The good ones?

I choose the ones that are not cracked, or have been fully checked!
Foregoing that..Engine Quest! :D

good and bad to both...if you're swapping from Js to mags, you'll need different length pushrods, a different intake, correct rockers, arguably new valve covers, different head bolts (or at least the ones that held it down to the engine they came from)...

If the Js are already on the engine, why would you need to swap?

Thinking about rebuilding my la 360 vs buying a buddies mag 360 that needs new rings

Decide on a short block first, then the question is applicable.....

Well I would rather rebuild my engine but it the mag heads had a major difference I would rather build the mag but seeing there is no major difference I think I will stay with my LA

I would run, what you have. A good valve job, some pocket porting work wonderful on J casting.

If the magnum heads aren't cracked their good heads, but the problem is nearly all magnum heads you find are cracked. Even on good running low mileage engines that don't leak anything. 99% of the time the owner has no idea their cracked because they do it between the valves where no coolant is flowing.

BTW: the magnum block has 1 big advantage, it is already set up for a roller cam. It also has a disadvantage in you have to use magnum style heads and magnum valve train parts and their are a lot less choices than for an LA. If it needs new rings it's a good possibility it needs bored also. Most of the time by the time the rings are bad the cylinder walls are worn also
