Which School is better

SAVE YOUR MONEY PLEASE!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO TO WYO TECH!!!!!!! I went in 93 and got completely screwed! First off we had a recruter come to the house and it was all clowns and ice cream cones, "dorms are nice and within walking distance of the school and you dont pay back school loans until your working."......BULLSHIT! The school is like 3.5 to mile outside of town and the dorms are in the middle of town, walking distance my ***! Everyone who lived there told me " If you value your things dont live here" there stuff either came up stolen or trashed! Oh and the "dont have to pay back loans until you are working" WRONG! While we were in the finance office at the school we brought these issues up and got this from the lady 'Ya we have a bad problem with the recruters lieing" REALLY!? Not to mention what happened while I was there. I took collision and refinishing course it was divided into to halves. The first 3 months was the collision part and it went fine I passed thruogh it with a 89%. Got into the refinishing part and had a 98% highest grade in my class with 6 weeks to go and.....got sick on thursday night called into the school on friday. Went back in on monday and 20 points knocked off my grade for calling late. Ya 4 FREAKIN MINUTES LATE! 4 MINUTES! I also was not allowed to make up a test that we took on that friday I was sick. Grade went down a lot. Then when you are out in the shop you are in groups of three,well.....the friday i was sick they turned in shop times and the two other dicks that were in my group took my time and split it between them and i got nothing!!!!! That is 60% of your grade. Things like this go around that school and just get swept under the rug. The thing is the people who get student loans to pay for the school get treated differently then those who can afford to pay for it themselves, reason being if you get loans they get paid that day,if you pay for it yourself then they dont get paid until you finish and you could look around my class and tell the difference by how people were treated. I was told by Bruce the cordinator that there was no way I could pass after all this stuff happened and he was not going to do anything about any of it. Being 19 yrs. old at the time I packed up my stuff that night and headed home. Well about half way home called my mom to tell her that I was fine and would be there in the morning and she said that Bruce told her that he didnt know why I was leaving that he was gonna work something out. BULLSHIT!!!! Sorry for the swearing but this still to this day puts a very very bad taste in my mouth! SAVE YOUR PARENTS MONEY KID AND FIND A LOCAL SCHOOL TO TEACH YOU THINGS YOU WANT TO LEARN.

I have worked with kids who came out of each school . Both are green when it came to practical hands.on knowledge. They couldn't work with rusted bolts , seized fittings or broken fasteners. Biggest joke was to watch the one kid try to drill a broken exhaust manifold bolt.
I learned ,hands on everything. Find a shop , beg them to hire.you, find the.oldest crankiest most miserablePOS there and make friends. You will not believe the knowledge one old guy has. I chose heavy trucks at first so I hit a few truck shops, found the oldest guy with the oldest.raggedy box who still had all his fingers and picked his brain for all I could , then I'd move on to the next. I got paid good money to learn. I'm not an engineer or a designer, but if a human built it , I can work on it.
BTW thanks to every old fellow who took the time to show a smart-*** punk how to do something, instead of just doing it for them .
Good luck with your decision ,whichever path you chose and yer future.
Oh and last thing , writing is so critical. Yes ,you'll need it. No one wants to pay a 3k bill that says replace engine. They want a creative story explaining the process to justify to themselves, just why they needed you to do it.
