Which Tranny do I have???

I have a 1971 Plymouth Valiant with a 225 Slant Six. It's a 3-speed transmission, column shift.

I know nothing about transmissions or how to identify them, can someone tell me what tranny came in these cars?
 
My guess would be a Torqueflite 904 if it is an automatic.
 
Yeah, it's an automatic.

I heard there was a way you could tell by the pan... But I can't remember the specific's of the conversation.
 
If its a slant it has to be the 904. They didn't make the 727 for the slant 6. There is a way to tell just by the pan on the small blocks though the 727 pan has an extra jog out in the corner. It is hard to explain in words but very easy to identify if you can see the two side by side. Hopefully someone will have pics to post of the two for you and you will see what I mean. Hope this helps
