Which Way do Snorkle Donut/Inserts Fit?

Hi All.....I'm trying to install the inserts,but which way do they go in the hood? I did a search here and found 2 different pictures. One had the "longest" piece of insert above the hood and one had the "longest" piece on the engine side of the hood. ?? Thanks,Dan

longer side to the scoop, they are there to keep rain water from going into engine bay
