That might be a good idea, but, that would make the Ica some 12 degrees earlier driving the cylinder pressure up.
If your engine was set up for max pressure with the late closing intake of the Whiplash cam, the pressure with the Rhodes could easily become excessive.
But I could see your idea working, in a well thought combo.
To the OP;
I am however no fan of the Whiplash-type of cam in the first place, and no fan of spending good coin on a Rhodes or rhodes-type lifter, to band-aid it up.
If I had a low-compression engine, (which I never willingly will) I would just fix that first, and then install a solid-lifter cam. Chances are, that in the long run, you will never be happy anyway with the combination of; a low-compression engine with a Whiplash-type cam in it. Especially with the price of gas rising nearly every day. I would plan ahead to run the crappiest gas, OOps, I mean the cheapest gas, lol.
Oh I already did that in 1999........
Over the Life of the vehicle, I saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars, in the price difference of 87E10 to 91Premium. That savings easily paid for the alloy heads and the pistons, to make over 11/1 Scr.
