why does the over center spring have to be removed

-
got it every one ----no more on this , just wanted to be totally sure I was doing the correct thing , thanks for every ones input!!!!!!!

I can attest to how the over the center spring will eat up your clutch with a McLeod diaphragm style pressure plate.
I finally removed my over the center spring about 1000 miles ago.

I have 5800 miles on the car since it's restoration including the clutch and I just had to put a new clutch disk in it along with getting rid of the diaphragm pressure plate in favor of a hemi one.

Is short...yes, the over the center spring does not give you any noticeable pedal feel once removed but you better get a stack of washers and some screwdrivers and yank that spring out because your clutch will slip under power and you may not notice it.

My clutch disk was damn near worn on the flywheel side down to the rivets and never knew it until inspecting it.
