Why is the wheel bearing grease leaking out of the dust cap?

I asked this question at FBBO before.
Nobody responded to say that they torqued them. All the respondents did the same as I do....we snug down the bearing nut, back it off to the next notch in the thin sheet metal cover and slide the cotter pin in.
Can you imagine though torquing them to 90 Ft lbs after MISreading the service manual?
Had a truck with a blued n discolored front wheel hub. Some dumb bunny had torqued it.
 
Tapered brgs, like fr wheel brgs, need a small amount of end play. That is why you tighten the nut, & then back it off a small amount.
 
I learned from years of going very very fast and trying to stop very quickly from 3 digit speeds that the front wheel bearings like 110-130 inch pounds of torque on the nut. Period. This is not some arbitrary number but the result of testing, testing and more testing. YMMV

As far as the rear wheel bearings...0.003-0.005 end play
