would appreciate any help I have a 64 dart gt 273 and I am on my 3rd ballast resistor, any idea what would cause this. thanks
 
Leaving the key on? Is the unit getting cool air flowing over it?
Would that be two burned up in 50 years , or in 50 days or.......? Cuz two in 50 years is pretty good, and two in 50 days is pretty bad.
 
We need details of the system, points? some conversion, like Pertronix?

What do you measure the coil and ballast resistance? Read the shop manual. You can download them from MyMopar. The coil and ballast resistances are in there, "section 8"

AND...........

what is the charging / running voltage? Does the battery run "wet" IE tend to boil all over?

Also, do you pressure wash the engine? That can break them, IE cold or lukewarm water hitting hot ceramic. Additionally, rain, hood leaks OR EVEN THE WINDSHIELD washer leaking / squirting on the ballast, and THAT my friend "has happened"
