Anyone know what is the widest tire I can safely go without rubbing on the front/rear of my Dart?

I was thinking 235-60 14's on Front and 245-60 15's on rear. Any idea if this will work?

it all depends on the backspacing of your wheels. I can tell you that, on a 14"x8" wheel with 4" backspace, a 245/60/14 tire will rub on the wheelwell lip.
I'm running a 215/70/14 tire on 14"x6"rims with the same 4" backspace in the front and I had to fold back the lower front corner of the front wheelwell for clearance when turning. Its not visible, though.
Keep in mind that these cars mostly came with tiny 13" wheels.

I am running a 245/14 in a 7" old style slot wheel , not sure of the BS, no problems.

235/60-14 works well on an early A.
With the right backspace a 245 is possible in the rear.
Here is a pic of a 235/60-14 on my 65 Dart,with factory 5.5" steelies.

I had 225/60/14,s and 255/60/15,s on my 66 Dart.The 14,s were 6 inch and the 15,s were 7 inch with no rubbing.

I had 205-75-14's on it. (26.10" High). The speedo was about 3-4 miles per hour fast. The car has had this size tire on it since dad picked it up in the 70's. I swapped the biased plys out for radials about 8 years ago.

A friend gave me some 215-60-14's that I put on it, cuz it needed new rubber, and they were free. The speedo is 10-12mils per hour fast now.

I am putting the 273 back in it, it will have a fair amount more umpf. A little more width under it wouldnt hurt.

235-60-15's are same height as the tires I had on it.

245-60-15's will probably true up the speedo, at least until I get the 8 3/4 put together for it.

Johnny, those look pretty sweet under your car. I like the profile.

PettyBlue - Curious on backspacing on the 15's? Were those on it before or after you modified the wheel housing?

I actually run a 205/70-14 on my 65. The 235's I showed you are actually off my 70 V8 Dart.I tried them on the 65, just to see what they looked like. They actually seemed to fit pretty good.Maybe a 225/60 front and 235/60 back would be a cool combo.

The 65 is a slant 6 car,and the bigger tires actually dogged the slant pretty good.Thats why I run a 205/70-14 on it. Here is a pic with the 205/70-14.

I’m in the same boat.
I have a 1965 Dodge Dart GT Go Go package car. 7.25 rear and 273 Carter 625 /904.
I bought Cragar SS 14x6 & 14x7 wheels and trying to figure out the tires.

I had 205/70-14 front with 215/70-14 rear. I had a 1966 Dart with 235/60-14 on all 4 wheels. I am thinking 205/60-14 front but 225/70-14 or 245/60-14 rears

235/60-R14s on 14x6 cragars rubbed a bit on the front of my 65 dart. 225/60-R14 have no issue. I've had 245/60r14s on the back more than once lots of room.

I'm running 215/65-15 on 15x6 in the front, and 245/60-15 on 15x7 in the rear. All wheels are Wheel Vintique 63's. The fronts don't rub unless doing really aggressive cornering into an uphill driveway. The rears have more than a finger width between both the spring and fender lip and don't touch at all.

I love that tall front tire. Do you recall what backspace that front wheel has?

Rear yes, front I don't know. I have 205 60 15 on front and 245 60 15 on rear of mine with plenty of clearance!
