Wife brought home a Challenger

-
-- The wife drives off of the island every day for work, about 45 minutes to Burlington. It would make me nervous in the snow (which is usually only a few days a year). Other concerns is the gas mileage.... BUT...happy wife, happy life right??? --
-- Get her one, and then get her another car for a "Daily Driver". -- :yawinkle: --

I drove this V-6 yesterday, great ride and handling I have to admit I was impressed. Even with over 300 Hp was a bit sluggish, heavy car I guess.

The standard rear gear ratio on a v-6 is a 2.62. Makes it a bit sluggish on takeoff. My Rallye Redline v-6 has a 3.08 rear which really helps. No one that has ridden in mine calls it sluggish.

The 3.08 is optional in all v-6s. My average fuel economy stays around 25+. This is all types of driving but mostly shorter trips with a 100 mph blast almost every time I drive it to keep the cobwebs blown out..

Good to know about the gears. I did one of those blasts too, wanted to see how the ride felt going a little faster......fun and got there in a fairly short time.

Na.. I got me this.

The wife likes the Plum Crazy so we're going to go look at this one today, it's a manual and has the leather seats, neither of which she wants, but it will give her a good idea.

I like the new Challengers, hate the plastic covers on the engine, though. Same goes for the Charger, and Rams.

I don't like plastic either but maybe that's how the big block goes 180 + MPH? Even with plastic in places I prefer metal, the reason my wife likes this car ironically is weight. She closed the door on her 6 banger rental and it closed with a thud and she knows the cars weigh over 4K. One of her favorite cars we've owned was a Chevy Vega wagon, body by Fischer. It also had the sturdy feel she likes.

We have the exact same car but with a automatic at our dealer here.. Might go take a peak at it..

One thing I noticed on the sticker between a car they had on the lot and a window sticker they pulled up from the local area was the gas guzzler tax. I had not seen that on the BB Scat Pack before but the $1,000 tax showed up on the cars on the floor. I asked the salesman what was up with that since they were the same model/engine.

Another thing I saw at a lot I won't even consider buying at was an AMV of $3500, dealer mark up on a Scat Pack Challenger......yeah right. This lot was also the one that had an AMV mark up of $25k on a Hellcat, go figure.
