WIFES gone and I`m Bakeing

-
Haven't tried it yet, but had an old guy tell me to use a wiper blade - put your wife's nylon stocking on it, apply the paint to the blade/nylon and just wipe it across... like you would with the hard rubber roller mentioned earlier.... he swears it works great and the wiper blade flexes enough to get the paint just over the edge of the crwon of the raised letters/numbers where it should be.....

" put your wife's nylon stocking on it "

Now that, I'm pretty sure she'll notice !! :angry5:

Totally thought this thread was in another direction.....lol

Too frickin funny!! If she notices the stocking, she aint gonna be happy, Id hide that damned rolling pin too!!
Rubber roller just dont sound right either....

LOL.... reminds me of the time I went shooting and put my black powder revolvers in the dish washer before she got back. DON'T ever do this unless the wife is going to be gone for a few weeks, and, maybe the smell will be gone by then!

Use your wifes best rolling pin and coat that sucker with a bunch of paint and roll it on.:D

I was thinking the same thing but you beat me to it. You're going down Moe, even if she doesn't smell the paint someone here is going to call your wife and squeal on ya.:D

You guys know that if I can convince her that that the license plate project was all her idea and tell her I did it her way ,it will all be good. I have been married 46 years and have had a lot of experience in these matters .

"These are not the droids you're looking for"

Well, you obviously survived using the kitchen oven to bake your freshly painted license plates. The first thought I had when I saw this thread a couple of days ago was "Dead Man Baking!"
Show us the completed plates when you can.

Well things kinda turned to ****. When trying to paint the letters and numbers the two types of paint were not compatible and it was like putting stripper on the plate, bummer. So I had to strip the plates and start over. O'well

Moe

This project isn't as fun as I thought it would be. Stripped the plates and got new paint and am baking as I type, and the wife is home, tied up and gagged but home. LOL!!!!

Moe

well heres what I came up with as a finished product, guess at 30 mph and 30 feet it will be ok

Bet you and I may be the only two that know where Tokeland is. Lot of good seafood there. I grew up in Montesano.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to paint the numbers"?????????????

Moe

Take a small 3" trim roller from home depot that doesnt have all the fuzz roll off most of the excess paint so it does not drip down, , roll across the raised part keeping the roller lever it will look great , Very light pressure and it will only take about 5 minutes

I cleaned some greasy parts off my old Harley Panhead in the dishwasher once, turned the nice white walls inside a nice dark gray!!!! The ol' lady was pissed!!!! Needless to say I spent a few hours on my knees with bottle of soft scrub!!!! Won't try that again!!!

How much time did you do in the big house because you have not lost your touch.
LOL
The plates look great !!!
Martin

I tried the roller and not successful , I think I made more of a mess couldn't make it apply even.really wasn't that hard the way I did it, and actually was easy at the end .
