I want to use a partial kickdown and the plate from the 85 was drilled out for a shift kit and I’m not interested in that. Any chance I can use the plate out of a 68 valve body in the 85?

Thanks,

Jake

Sometimes you can fit small cotter pins in oversized holes to cut down flow.
I realized that the 85 had one of the mods where you drill a hole inbetween a wall and now im wondering if i am able to use the 68 plate if that drill hole is going to be a a problem?

I agree with Kim. I doubt it'll work. Many changes to the VB between those yrs. As long as the 85 isn't a lockup you should be able to use the entire 68 VB in it. Just won't have PT kickdown but I've heard Torqueflitepatty sells a PT kit on e-bay so you can add it to an older vb

That 68 vb will leave a case cavity uncovered. If that cavity has a hole down inside it or if the vb has a hole feeding the cavity, you will lose pressure.
