Windshield Gasket

The glass seals on my 67 Valiant are shot. If I use a 68 seal do I HAVE to use the stainless trim ? In other words, is the trim on there for a reason other than cosmetic?

probably not, but it looks like **** if you don't. i just used silicone for the trim. definately not the best way but if the trim fits good, why not?
I just couldn't find the right trim clip package that worked and got tired of looking.

The 67 gaskets have a larger profile so they fill the bed area in the body. The 68 gaskets without trim will leave fairly large voids visible in the corners so yes the stainless trim is cosmetic only.
