Wiper switch knob removal?

Working refinishing 74 Duster dash Bezels. I have it out on the bench and have the headlight switch knob and stem out. I'm stumped on wiper knob. I can't see a screw or release mechanism. I don't want to damage anything, just pull is there a special tool or trick?

For the headlight switch
 
The button is on the headlight switch, to slide out the knob and shaft. The wiper knobs are a press on fit with a small flat spring steel retainer inside the knob. It should pull straight off. At least that is how all my 67-69 wiper switches are.

My next dilemma is how to clean, mask the plastic gauge widows without damaging them. They are plastic welded together...with the frame.
 
I carefully cut the melted area away leaving as much "pin" as possible, and re-attached the same way with a soldering iron.
 
I got a plan. I ordered an overlay for the wood grain face from Detroit muscle.
I'm going to carefully wash in warm soapy water. I had it on kitchen counter and looked down and some spice jars...moronicly it hit me.
The spice jar lids are a perfect fit. Now I can spray what needs to be black without too removing the plexiglass inserts. I'll need to find something for the brake light, and trim a piece of card board to fit the speedo glass.
I won't drink any coffee and be well rested when I try to out line the silver.

Hobby shops carry chrome pens. I have 3 different width sizes of MOLOTOW chrome pens I got from HOBBY LINK. I use them for chrome detail on the Mopar models I build. They are pretty awesome. Check it out if you don't already have something
 
I'm actually hoping it will clean up enough so I don't have to mask and paint the black and just use those chrome pens to detail the accents

I defiantly plan to do the chrome. Just dusting the black it looks pretty good and might clean up enough to not have to paint it.
