ok, I don't know much about wiring and I don't know anything about how it all works, but my husband had his cousin rebuild the 360 for the 1976 Duster we own. The catch is, his cousin moved away before the wiring was put back together. Neither me or my husband know much about wiring. I do better than my husband so I'm the one learning and putting it back together. Need lessons and help. There is also the issue of breaking in the motor without messing it up. Need help with that too, but for right now I gotta learn the wires. Thanks.

Here's a tip. Most of the engine harness wires have different terminals. That along with their lengths helps them reach and connect only where they belong. OK 2 of the altenater wires have the same connecter but they can go on either of the 2 spade terminals on the back of the altenater. :)
Just have at it starting from the drivers side and across the back of the engine and forward again on the right side to the altenater and water temp sender. Have fun.

Do you have any friends that know old cars at all? It,s a pretty simple system and they could have it hooked up for ya within a 1/2 hour.I think that is your best bet for getting your fresh motor started.Good luck!

common you guys i know some one can give here some kind of diagram to hook this up. hang in there girl someone will have some kind of picture with wire colors if I knew how to put it on here i would. there are alot of smart members here that can do that kind of stuff.:read2:

Thanks godfather, I could use some more help. I really am kinda hooked on the ole' yellow duster and would like to get it right. I'll get a picture of the bay here in a bit and show everyone what I'm doing.

if you will either pm me your email address or post it here i can send you a copy of the schematic. don't know if it will help you at all, but at least you will know what color wire goes to what....with a bit of patience you should be able to figure it out.....

Here's my wiring expert at work.......ok serious now,not too many wire going to it.theres a harness that runs up the pass side valve cover on top of the intake.where that harness comes off the firewall there is a plug for the distributor and two connectors for the coil and on plug for the oil pressure sending unit.then it travels toward the front of the engine and will have a plug for water temp then it branches off to the alternator with two field wires that plug on and one connector for the battery to the alternator. on the other side there are just the two wires for the starter motor and badda bing badda boom your done

So, here is the bay and you can see the mess of the wires (not like the photo with the 'helper'). I can figure out some of the wires, they have the bulbs on them. It's the ones that don't have anything to them that stumps me. Thank for all the input.

Oh yeah, email is

All the help I can get is a real help.
I'll get a pic to all of you when I'm finished.
I was able to install the heating core, radio and power booster, most of the wires under the dash, and the wiper blade arms. I should be able to do this too!

I really liked Waggin's post, funnier than hell and clear as mud!

If you were closer I'd help just for the challenge. It's the kind of thing that is easier to show somebody than to try to explain where every wire goes.
