Ok so i have a completly empty engine compartment, my wiring block is on the firewall from the dash. and i have a pile of wires that go god knows where. does anybody have detail photos of engine compartment and wiring, or any ideas like those painless wiring kits? I am far from gifted in this department and dont care wha6t it cost i just want everything working with as little stress as possible please chime in im all ears. the car is a A body 72 valiant

if your going stock wires it should be pretty easy.. most things only go one place and its not too hard to figure out if you really look at it.

is everything on the inside of the car in good shape? you can buy an engine harness from year one if thats what you need,,

everything i hear about painless says it isn't so painless.
i went with an american auto wire kit. but if you know nothing at all about wiring i don't think any aftermarket is for you unless you are having someone that knows what they are doing do it for you..

Painless is a pain from what I have seen ,but we do have a few folks here that has dun it. See if this helps some even though it is a earlier year.
I know there is a member here that has posted a wiring diagram here for a 71/72 Dart some where, I will take a look around :blackeye:

Hell I'd let ya drive it. Motor is nothing special. Just a stock 74 360 but the car is fun in turns. :)

Yet another guy who needs a factory manual. You can download one right from this site, and it's FREE

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=132309&highlight=manual,+download

"There are" a couple of useful diagrams in the factory manual that shows wire harness routing.

As Abodyjoe said, "most things" just fall into place.

There's only one harness with a 1/4" eyelet on a large gauge wire along with a green and blue with "push on" single connectors. This lays down and ends at the alternator.

The wiper harness only plugs into one of the bulkhead connectors --they are are keyed.

I recently used "part of" a Painless harness I bought "started to use" off Craigslist for I think 125 bucks. The damn thing is over 400 bucks new, and designed for a Chivvy!! Not impressed.

My 72 Demon had "selective surgery" of the underhood wiring done on it when I got it. I opted for YO harnesses for the car. The /6 and LA motors use the same harness, but I think a BB car would need a different one. If you go this route, recommend a thorough cleaning of the bulkhead connector. It can get corroded up which affects the accuracy of the gauges as well as operation of the headlights.

Just because it says "painless wiring" does not make it so if you have no idea what you're doing. It's not plug-n-play like you may want to believe. You're probably best off sticking with the stock wiring that came with the car.

Absolute truth, here. Painless has NO documentation about how the fuse panel is wired. I finally sat down one night and traced it out. Turns out the %@#$@#$$ "switched radio" fuse is on the IGNITION RUN buss instead of the ACCESSORY buss!!!

I'm well schooled in "how these work" and even I was scratchiing my had a few times over this Painful mess.

Nayone have a Brake setup diagram, from master cylinder, front brakes and rear complete with junction and valve blocks, disks front, drums back. I would be willing to pay for a good one. Also Fuel line placement. I have all the lines but no blocks
