What's the deal with the woodruff key for the cluster pin? The counter shaft pin is supposed to be secured with a woodruff key but the key I took out of the tranny is much wider than the slot in the new pin? Interestingly the slot in the old pin is the same width..

Do I have the wrong key or how is this supposed to work?

Yes that is the wrong thickness key the correct key is a very sloppy fit in the key way on the shaft.

I wonder where this key comes from.. reverse shaft (didn't take out mine)? It was in the same bag I had all small parts stored.

What puzzles me is that Brewers shows the same keys for cluster pin and reverse shaft: Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

the keys are the same for both reverse and counter shaft. The key you have is twice the thickness of the correct key if you need the the thickness I can mic one from the shop tomorrow evening. The ones brewers sell are the correct ones.
Also the key you have pictured did not come from anywhere in or on an A833 trans.

Made my own key out of 1/2" bar stock - took me 5 minutes ;)

Same width as what?
Same as the new pin,or
same as the fat-boy woodruff.

Yes wrong key;
The skinny half-moon key that fits in the skinny slot, is not technically a woodruff key.
