worst motors of all time

Not even a little bit stock, no. Volvo took great pride in their orthopedically/ergonomically-correct seats at that time. They had big, thick, formed foam and were highly adjustable (though in some models it took a wrench).
Correct. I looked at a few pics and none looked like what she had. I think she had the stock floating bolsters but the buns were definitely not stock.

Gonna get hate from this, but the pentastar 3.6. Affectionately known as "Tick". Ours decided to eat itself. I always did frequent oil changes, and kept up with mtx. The rear bank the lifters, and followers failed and ate both camshafts. Dealer said we can install a used engine in the van for $6,000 lol. I told them then the van is junk. It's worth $5000 as a trade on a good day. The cost of the engine is more than the value of the van.

So I told them, vacuum all the metal out. Use compressed air to blow out the rest, and flush the remainder into the oil pan with varsol. Then swap out the bad parts, put it together, give it an oil change and give it back to me. Price $1800. They said it wont work. I told them I plan on using cheap oil and cheap filters and flushing it out every 200 miles until I dont find metal on the filter pleats. Well that corrected that, then the transmission developed issues, and that dodge caravan went away. A buddy of mine had the same ticking issue in a 3.6L pentastar powered jeep. He fixed it and ditched it. Junk.

The Ford 2.8L V-6 in the Mustang II Horsepower Zero of the mid-to-late 1970s. I was always stuck changing the water pump whenever one of them came in. The 16 little bolts would break in the block and the cheap timing chain cover would warp. After a while, our service managers would send them to the Ford dealer because we lost too much labor on fixing those things.
Have an uncle who owned a pristine mustang from 82 or 83 had the useless 2.8 v-6. He actually ordered a reman 2.8 it was still useless! Except this reman always had valvetrain noises that never went away. Total blue oval trash!

Chrysler 2.7, 3.7, 4.7, 3.6.
Ford gutless 360s, 5.4L plug issues
Chevy 2.8s as noted earlier, the 350 diesel abortion.
Just for starters..

When I was a kid in the 80's, my Dad had an early 80's Ford Ranger. It had a small, carbureted 4 banger. He bought it new, and it was the biggest piece of garbage I have ever witnessed! Gave him nothing but problems. Head gaskets, time belt(or chain? on the overhead cam), carburetor problems, blah blah blah.
My Dad kept it for 10 grueling years because he had to money-wise, but it was brutal. In fact, watching my Dad struggle with that Ford product steered me away from all Ford stuff to this day.

50s Porsche 4 cam 4 cylinder engine. They took over 120 hours to assemble. When they went bad the dealers put in the cheaper pushrod engine. The 4 cam engines are now highly desirable and worth more than a $100k.
