Would like to run side exhausts..

I see that your car has a muffler so are side pipes illegal in your province ?

Cannot be sound legislation or there wouldn't be a Harley on the road...:)

Exhaust is required to be ran outside the car where he resides. It cannot be dumped under the chassis as it is now

Hi Ian,

I am not sure if they are "technically" illegal or not as the guidelines the province sent me have no mention of exhaust systems??!! I got the car from West Virginia where the side pipes were tolerated by local law enforcement as the owner was an elderly good ole boy but they weren't street legal.

This car is a low 11 second street car and it sounds like a drag car. Not sure if you can tell by the vid how loud it actually is. I am just changing the exhaust because I have a better chance of passing the inspection and like dual exhaust coming out the back with down turned pipes. I have a fuel cell in the trunk.

I do believe MoparDaddy is correct where the sidepipes have to pass the outside of the car. Mine are even or just slightly underneath the car. I have to be real precise jacking up the car as the exhaust leave very little room for the jack. Luckily I have racing jack that just fits.

As a side note my family resides in Cape Breton in little fishing village just pass Glace Bay called Port Morien. Nice to meet you. John

Hey John,

I am from PEI but left years ago...

I know Port Morien. :)

We have a little time before we have to make a decision.. I have no idea what our rig is going to sound like with these mufflers ...but looking forward to finding out.

Off to the sand flat tomorrow for a couple of days. the heat here has been brutal.

I fabbed up a side exit with a bunch of oval tubing from Spintech and Magnaflow oval mufflers. The headres are the TTI/Pro-Parts reproductions 2"-2 1/8" stepped with 3 1/2" collectors and no x/h pipe. The headers had to be modified extensively to fit my application, but here's a link to a quick vid to give you and idea.

Spintech makes mufflers that have the in/out on the same end.....they also make them with the in on the end and the out in the side....

A friend of mine made his own custom exhaust with an X-pipe and Spintech's side exiting mufflers on his LS1 powered Holden Torana and it sounded pretty BA and looks neat.
