I'll be installing an 8 1/4 rear end in my Scamp in the next week or two. Since the rear end is sagging I'll also install new leaf springs as well. My Scamp has the 318/904/7.25 combo now.

I know my driveshaft will need to be shortened for the 8 1/4. What will the new length of the driveshaft need to be (yoke to yoke measurement)?

Also, will I need to change the u-joint just upstream of the rear end? I've read about 7260 and 7290 u-joints; which one would my car likely have and would it work with the yoke that came with the 8 1/4 rear end (out of a Duster).

7260 is the one that is on most cars (including yours) and is most likely (99.9%) that is what the 8 1/4 has.
As far as the driveline, whatever the measurement is of your driveline center of u-joint to center of u-joint just deduct 1.6" from that measurement and that is what your driveline should be with the 8 1/4.
