This just came to my mind.Will the yoke on my 489 case work with my u joint from my 7 1/4,or will I need a dirrerent yoke or just a different u joint.I should know this befor I have the crush sleave installed.

you need to find out what yolk, 7260? or 7290?
7290 will not directly work with the 7 1/4 drive shaft yolk, but there is a adapt u joint to hook the 7290 to the 7260, you can get it at napa.

Is that called a convershion joint,had to do that on a 69 Camero once.I just went out and measured my 7 1/4 and it hard to tell but looks like 3 1/4 wide and the cup is 1 inch.The 489 end is the same so maybe i am safe.if not a convershion joint is whats needed? I figured the rear end swap would be easy LOl.
