Hey guys can you ID of this zbar is off a v8 or Slant car. It’s off an abody I believe 67-72 but not sure and also not sure if the it is a slant, would it be different or workable with an LA engine

thanks so much as always

The /6 bar is about 3/4-1 inch longer than a V8 bar. So if need be cut some off the long side.. the /6 bar will fit with the V8 but will be very tight between the frame rail and bell housing..

Scody appreciate the help. Are you referring to the z bar or the clutch rod as I call it bjt the pedal to zbar rod

I’ve slowly been accumulating all the parts for a 4 speed swap. Was wanting the new smaller case tkx 5 speed but I don’t think I can afford it and so far have pedals, potentially this zbar and rod and a lead on a 69-71 bellhousing, my cars a 72 so will need to use the 69-71 pivot ball plate vs 72-74 ball plate

only bellhousing I could find at a good price for a 10.5” flywheel with 130 teeth so I may have one in storage that’s needs surfacing. Now time to hunt for the a833. Ahhhh the fun and high of finding stuff for the sweet moment of banging gears!!!

Thanks

The linkage rods are the same length for the slant and V8’s. Don’t cut them. As you showed in the 1st photo, and are pointing to from the manual, you have the upper rod.

Was talking about the Z bar tube length, where 3/4 to an 1 inch could be removed from a /6 Z bar to “make” a V8 Z bar. The slant z bar is like 7 inches and the V8 is like 6 inch. It’s been a while since I measured them…

That makes sense. So if it doesn’t fit during mock up I’m sure it will be evident and if I have a chance to see a v8 z bar for a body specifically 1972 I’ll use that as a comparison. thanks again!

It appears to be someone's attempt to modify a z-bar for a big block application. Or maybe something else, but it looks modified to me.

If you go to Brewer's you can see pictures of all the relevant Z-bars here Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

Or maybe a modified E-body? E-body z-bar
