1965 Dodge Dart Charger

-
Found some interesting thing tonight! When I took the car apart 5 years ago I never saw this marking on the fan!!! How many has seen this before? I have one untouched 65 Dart w/273 and I checked that one out too. No stampings. There might have been some changes between LA, Detroit and the St Louis plant suppliers!

Ulf - I have a fan with the same marking on it. I can't recall if it's for an early A or not.

That's some really nice work you're doing there, Ulf.

Wish I could help you out with some parts, but it looks like you've got most of it taken care of.

I'll research this thread when I start my rebuild.

Thanks for the nice words! I'm looking for the check valve. Do you have any NOS ones laying around I'm would be interested!!!

It is a 7 blade and measure just about 18 inches in diameter. I don't think it's for an early A by the part number - 2663213. Here's the pictures:

Don! Isn't that a A/C fan? I don't have the partsbook right here at work!! Can you shoot a laserstraight picture of it and I will put it in the reference manual?

Tomorrow the glass bead man will get here to glass bead the body, doors, trunk, hood and other stuff for the last time. I guess that primer will be the next step! Can wait to see the body in primer with everything ready for agod paintjob.

Here you can see how mine looked?Mine is assembled in LA. Where is your car produced? They might have different way of painting the engine.

65Dart, I have the same "Rebuilt Engine PowerPak" metal tag on my 1971 Dodge Dart. The story I was told is that if a car owner blew up the factory installed engine before the warranty ran out, the dealership had these engines on hand to drop in to replace the blown engine.
Interesting to see the same tag again on a car from your year of manufacture.

Interesting! I have been talking with several Chrysler experts but no one hasseen these tags! Do you have any material except this tag? It would be nice to find some info on them. Let me know what you have and we might solve the mystery!

LOL, I'd be happy to help, Sir.
All I know is what an old Chrysler guy told me about the tag/plate indicating that they were Dealership Replacement Crate Engines. I about fell out of my chair when I saw yours, because I had a very difficult time finding someone who knew what this tag meant, and I hadn't seen any other ones besides mine.
Anyone out there have any more info on these?

Great progress, Ulf. Is there any rust at all on the DartCharger? Looks very nice.
Very interesting to follow your build.

Very interesting to follow your build.

We found some small spots at the lower opening for the rear window and some rust on the small front panel on the right rocker panel from the front wheel house side. But that's it! The rest is taken care of so the welder guy will be here within a week to end that part. Then I can get it in primer and start to put back the doors, hood, trunk lid and soon. I'm hoping to have it painted in December. The bolts are in US the get the right finish so in the next two weeks I should be able to start assemble it!

Today arrived a box with nuts and bolts of all kind. All with the right finish. Ah, it looks great! Tomorrow I will do some more glass beading. I will also torque the cylinderhead bolts right so I can put on the exhaust gaskets and the manifolds. It will look good. The bolts are all done in right finish.

Does anybody know which plating the brackets for the left exhaust manifold should be? I'm almost certain that they came natural steel but any comments is appriciated.

Hey, any one found some NOS freeze plugs?

Hi Ulf - I found another fan with the same marking, just no part number on it. It's a six blade fan this time and had a thin spacer still attached to it. Oops! Forgot to add the picture

Picture of the 6 blade fan. You can just barely see the writing at the top.

Don! Should it be possible to see the part# on the fan? Was it ink stamped or stamped in the blades. As I recall I think I have seen stamped fan blades but not sure which year!
