1965 Dodge Dart Charger

I will take another look at it when I get home from work today. There was definitely no part number printed on the fan like on the other one. I'll closely examine it for a stamped number.
 
Tonight I put onthe exhaust manifolds and tighened them. Now I need to get the right bolts and nuts for those brackets connecting to the cylinder head.

The camshaft was shipped from US today.......! Mmm, can hardly wait. The timing chase cover is ready.I have finally found the OEM sprockets and chain for the camshaft too!

But I need upper and lower hose in NOS condition. I have found out how the markings were so I just need the hoses. Anyone having a set laying around?

Today was the day when the steering box was to be done and painted. I got the NOS steering head in aluminium and it was the replacement for the damage one .

But it turned out to be the same part# but some where down the road they did a model change!!!

Is it some one out there that has a NOS unit with the same part# but casted in 64 to 66. Check out the pictures. The new one is for cars produced in 1975 and 1976. So this one is for sale!

I took a close look at this fan and on the radiator side below one of the blades is a stamped Pentastar with the numbers 46237 stamped below the Pentastar. The fan measures 17 inches in diameter. Maybe an AC fan?

I'll take a look and get back to you. I probably need to glass bead it to see anything! I'll get back to youwhat I found.

Don! Check out the pictures of the steering assy head. Do you have any suggesttion where to find this part?
 
Yes I saw the pictures of the head assembly. Don't think I will be of any help for that. I am using the original PS pump (cleaned up of course) with my GT 'vert. Same with my 65 wagon. MY 65 Valiant 'vert and Barracuda are manual steering so they'll be cleaned as well.
 
Was working on the hood today. Found some evidence of no paint under the rubber flange. This is how it looked on my unrestored 65 GT. How is yours? On the orginal hood there is some small paint areas with yellow paint!!

Does your car has paint under the rubber flange?

Tonight I got the transmission cover ready and remember that I had an NOS fuel pump! How nice is that! I also found out that the damper needs to be redone due to humidity in cold storage.

The valve covers are in the shop and needs to be redone. One of the finned aluminium plates needs to be replaced too. Anyone have an extra in mint condition? I have extras for 66 and 67 cars!

The paintman did a different job on the valve covers. The left one was masked and the right one not!! How's you're covers?

I picked up all the parts that I have for the front end. Seems that most of it is there. I have also found the steering knuckles so it should be complete now. The bolts for the wheels is just missing one wheel.

On the body I found out that one piece of metal in the front of the right rocker needs to be replaced. Any rust free one's out there?

The battery tray brackets was painted yellow. Found some evidence of yellow paint on the backside of them. Great.

I need help tolocate the pipe where you check the oil level in the engine. Mine's broken! Also need a oil cap with vent connection in mint condition!

Tonight I founds out some odd things. First of all the rear bearing cup holders on the rear U-joint has blue paint splots!

The negative battery cables was attached to the battery tray with a clear plastic stripe. The battery tray brackets was painted black before they were bolted together to the inner fender.

The clips for the wiring harness at the fire wall was painted body color which mean they was attached to the body before the paint procedure.

The lower bolt that holds the starter was copper colored. Has anyone seen this before?

There is two external brackets between the engine and transmission, one on each side. What finish did they have from the factory? To me it seems that they were silver cadmium. Any more info about this is welcome.

Tonight I found a repair kit for the heat riser on the right side exhaust manifold. Yes!

The brackets from the engine to transmission, I think, are not painted from the factory.
I believe they have a galvanized or similar coating that give them the silver color. I am no expert, but my '98 Dakota has brackets similar to those and they appear to have the same finish as yours.

You are right, silver cad or galvanized? Any more info?
 
Cleaned out the clips for the engine wiring harness. They look brand new. Did also find evidence of black paint on the pirman arm. Was that one painted from the factory? It seems to the orginal one! Did some 2 hours of glass beading bolt and nuts. Will ship to US tomorrow for new finish.

I read some old Dodge dealer magazines from late 1964 and found the first add from Bell Auto offering Cragar 13" wheels for Dodge! Good news and a good start! Any of you who has seen the 14 or 15" wheels with small bolt pattern?

Nice wheels you have! Are they 13" or 14"? I have two sets of 13" Cragar S/S wheels and I will sent the extra wheel I have to the chrome shop to see what they can do. The center section of the wheel is cast aluminium that is welded to the rim. I'm not sure how to handle that due to the fact that the rim should be chrome and the center should be polished! Look at the picture!

some of the very early cragars rims were magneisum( not spelled correct im sure ) in the center,, altho ive never seen a pair they do or did exsist,, if you dont know what your doing polishing magnuesim ,,,it can catch fire,,and can not be put out,,,,

You scared me! But I found the orginal ad from the Bell Company. They were aluminium! Puh.... catch fire...... no rims.... no nothing...!

By the way, these 13" wheels were released in August of 1964.

Tonight I mounted some of the freeze plugs I have found. The rest is on it's way from US. The mounting hardware worked fine.

Checked out the camshaft sprockets incl the timing chain. The biggest difference between a Mopar standard stuff and a Walker products is the stamped DPCD markings on both sprockets. Hmmm, but I have the upper one. Just need to find the crankshaft one. Anyone out there?

Found out that the chromeair cleaner had a air filter instruction! Did all the 273 4 barrel engine had this decal on the right side?

Found the transmission cover I bought from an old dealership in Norway. Need to clean it a little bit first!
