Got a notification last night on the top of my page, that my Gold Membership is about to expire, in a few days.

So i clicked on the link, and found out that it's $40.00 to renew.

Don't remember what i paid the previous year, but did it go up?

Well, i paid it anyway, even though i have been bleeding money this month with car insurance, car registration, smog inspention fee, and other bills that came due this month.

And my social security automatic payment into my bank account got screwed up.

Does it ever end?

At THAT rate I will not be renewing it again. Hell, I didn't pay for it this year...

The price of servers and computer equipment has gone up too.

I noticed the 5 dollar increase too, but considering what this site is and the behind the scenes work that someone in Chi-town does.....its not all that bad. IMO...... Its also yearly.

Its 51 cnd and i wasnt going to renew but all i get is spam on here if not gold . this will be my last year i think everytime you turn around your getting nickle and dimed to death.everything keeps going up but my pay .

That is...like a 14% increase....my SS cola was like 1.7%....ever since getting tossed out of the USPS and living on a fixed income I pay a lot more attention to this sort of thing...sorry....ain't gonna be getting no more of my $$...

well the good thing is that its not required for use of the site.

However 40 dollars over the course of a year is not really a big deal for what is received.....still a better deal than sally Struthers and probably less than a cup of coffee a day. (I am too lazy to do the math)

I just hope the day never come that the admin gets the same attitude about spending on upgrades and neglects to upgrade and maintain.

Yeah, looks like it went up from $35 to $40, so an extra $5. At least for the US users. Canada is now $51, but I bet that has to do with the exchange rate too.

Still works out to just under .11 cents a day in the US, so, A LOT less than a cup of coffee Rani. :D

I look at it this way. How much money has FABO saved me? You know, by getting the right parts the first time, or posting about a sale (my 20% off Doug's headers), or finding a part I need used in the classifieds instead of buying new, etc. I know it's a heck of a lot more than even $40 a year, so I feel it's fair to pay the $40 to keep my Gold membership for the extra perks it gives me. Even if I can use the site for free.

But being on a fixed income definitely makes you change your financial priorities, or, at least be a lot more aware of them. And from that standpoint, I totally understand not being able to afford the increases, which is really unfortunate. Even if it's a fair increase to keep up with the costs of managing the site, it just goes along with all the other increases that nickel and dime everyone to death.

But I'm sure the cost of maintaining the site is going up the same way, which is why the increase is getting passed along to begin with.

Wish I could get a raise.Grossing the same since 2005 everything goes up but my net,it goes down

I sent my $40 to Stan's fundraiser.

X2.... but.... if everybody that (like me) is not a Gold Member paid a due of $5, then the gold guys could be on here for free!??? they need a break!

like I need some Bute for one of the horses other day, must of stepped in an armadillo or something, so sore he can hardly walk. I go to the vet, don't carry any Bute paste,( he says),,,,, $35 for some Bute powder I have to go buy a bottle of corn syrup to mix with it so he will eat it over his feed, get home look in my "thru the mail' vet catalogue, what WAS $8 a tube, is yea, $30 plus postage!

if you were tired of it all,,,,,,,,, cost of a bullet is prohibitive IF you can even find any for your particular GUN!!!!!

it is the exchange rate for the added cost but my $51 bucks is just as good here as your 51 is there . if this makes any sense .

My fee for my vette site was $299 for my lifetime membership. I would rather pay a one time fee then the yearly fee. I realize some cant do that all at one time but I cant see the yearly fee. Although probably after 10 years not many stay active anyway.

$3.33 a month. .109589041 cents a day.

Sounds like a bargain at that price Rusty. It is! tmm

I suppose since it's now 40 bucks, I'll go gold. I know I've saved more than that from the wisdom I've gained. Thanks FABO..

Also on a fixed income, retirement check doesn't go up. When it comes in I'll be going gold. This site is worth it.

ME TOO!!!!!! NO F___ing raise for 11 years!!!!! Nothing guaranteed in life EXCEPT DEATH and TAXES!!!!!!!!!!

Gave up my subscriptions to 3 MOPAR mags !!!......this is my main outlet these days!

YES, LOSING $$$$$$ every year with cost of living and benefits constantly rising!!!!!

The only reason that i renewed, is that i more or less did it on the spur of the moment, after i read the renewal notification.

Now that i am "officially" retired, my car insurance rate went down, as they no longer have me using the vehicle to commute, to go to work.
So that's a benefit for me, being old, and collecting social security.

I think it's good to keep the sight going, it really is the go to place for info.

I also found my Duster, and bought and sold parts on here and figured it was well worth chipping in a little.
