Saw on of my co-workers save his cheese grater filings and mix them in with his next batch. Can't say I've ever done that but it aint out of the question.

My dad did that all the time and same with fiberglass.
Sanding powder as well.
 
Guess were no different than anyone else, do what you can with what you have and cross your fingers. Lol

Definitely. Crossing my fingers right now on this patched together Ford rust repair. I feel bad for these people and learned a lesson myself. I aint buying patch panels for one of these again. I'm bidding the next one for a full uniside from Ford. I'll still section it but this welding patch panels to patch panels was a lot of work and no way to get 100% corrosion protection.

Might not get a full surround from Ford anymore for that old of a truck were having to wait for parts for the 2018 we have in the shop now.
Got a 2006 GM we can't get a OEM door anymore.
Not looking good for new parts.
 
BTW BP I registered my car in the sun roof registry and am now #2 on the list for 1973 and 1974 I think are also 2.

Thanks for the reminder. Gotta remember that. I always call my supplier for prices and availability. Hard to find a good used pickup around here too.

I’m with you Mark, B.C ‘s cases have sky rocketed, all the 19-30ish year old thinking it’s all b.s. and parting then getting sick .....yup still a hoax .lol

Well that’s a fact , the auto recyclers around here have gone to 2006 and newer only , that’s a ***** to find any good used parts , they crush everything else and stock pile the scrap until the price goes up ,sad really
 
I asked if they stripped all the steel out of the aluminum parts to separate them out and he said it was too labour-intensive and not cost-effective so no they don’t do it. I thought that was rough
