318 with 360 heads and compcam build help

But it's okay for you guys to start something and I'm not allowed to respond? I don't think so
OK someone asks about a build... People respond... You respond... How many times have you posted to help the OP (Original Poster) with his questions??? How many times have you posted to someone who pulls your chain? Do you see a pattern? Where is the OP?

I hope the OP is checking his short block to make sure it is ok. Ordering a mild Summit cam with 210-220 that is @50 matching lifters, springs, chain, and gaskets. And planned on a dual plane - 600 carb. Summit exhaust kit to use his manifolds and has plan for reasonable gears /converter

I have a ford 9in rear that’s 3.5:1 and I want a na 318 in just looking for a good performance motor from a roll I would like to keep the stock converter and the 904 trans I have I can add a shift kit if necessary I just didn’t do that when I built it the first time. I’m just looking for a good reliable performance motor. Nothing crazy I would like to use my 4 barrel intake and a 750
CFM carb obviously I can rejet it if necessary. I want the 318 but I don’t have to have 318 heads I want to keep the rotating assembly but will change piston heads. If that puts it in perspective.
Re-jetting a carburetor only covers the power circuit. Unless you get a Holley HP or a Quick Fuel, you will have zero adjustability in the idle circuit and that's where 90% or more of your problem will be. I strongly recommend rethinking to something like a 650 AVSII.

Hey air head, the A bodies that I listed has always been the same
Hey dip ****, you added 67-69 Darts and 67-69 notchbacks, I`ve written them down trying to help you find a car. I recently listed 2 cars and a anonymous mod took the thread down, asking me to PM you any cars.
F that and F you poser, I`m done with trying to help you find a car that you wouldn`t buy anyway.:icon_fU:

Dan - just stop mate, you have added near on 3 pages of unrelated BS to this guys thread.
Sounds like you have a running drivable 318. You could have that motor in and be able to drive and enjoy your car while you build your replacement motor. You have a 360 block and 360 heads. If you are planning on boring the 318 and replacing the pistons you could do the same to the 360 at the same cost. You would need to come up with a crankshaft and rods. They could be found from someone doing a stroker or elsewhere.
This is good advice, heaps of guys are building strokers so im sure you could pick up a 360 crank and set of factory rods for cheap and it allows you to enjoy the car while you plan out & build the engine.
But if your set on re-building the 318 get a set of of KB167 pistons (as long as your not planning on nitrous or boost down the track), use the 360 heads and select an appropriate cam for the application and gears/convertor you are going to run.

Those 2 fingers that the little red man is holding up, is that your iq? FYI I removed the 67-69 darts and 67-69 notchbacks long ago.

Don't forget, I wasn't the only one. Did you give credit to the ones that started this or are you only giving me a hard time

Don't participate in it - there is an ignore button for a reason. I can see other members frustration though

I think that you probably understand what I was trying to say, I don't know all the exact terminology names
And yet here you are, advising people to do things you have very limited knowledge about. For shame.

It would be funny if Dan was really a group of guys at a place like Westech who are screwing with us.
I don't think so. He's getting to the point that some newbie may well take something he says as gospel that's actually 100% wrong, use whatever that advice is and end up splattering an engine all over the strip or street. Thar would be really bad.

You have done it now! No way is Dan going to share the speed secrets he has with you.

Here is everything mopar I have.
I have a 750 edelbrock carb
750 Holley x2
China 4 barrel intake
360 stopped block
360 heads 1/2 stripped
Running stock 318
273 motor and heads
Msd distributor
Msd box x2
3 904 transmissions
One 904 is rebuilt and has the red eagle clutches
Ford 9in rear at 3.5:1 ratio
Stock 7.25 rear the shitty little thing
I have a entire disc brake kit
I have a 70 swinger and a 72 dart custom
Custom is the parts car for the swinger
I have that huge cam kit
With some rods for the adjustable heads
I have a full exhaust I got made at a shop that connects to the little hugger headers
I have 3 sets of stock manifolds
I have other little stuff but it doesn’t play into the conversation.
Create something to work with... First off the carburetors, don't care about mopar, ford or anything else.. lol...
First off, take the three sixty block down and have it machined and prepped out for when you blow the three eighteen up.. lol..
Take your running through eighteen and put your cam in it...
Put the three sixty heads on that. And then I will cyber, spend the best money you ever spent and buy a dual quad tunnel ram and put both those seven fifty hollies on it....
The snazzy 904 with the fancy clutches and the ford nine, with the three fifty gears... absolutely, take the adjustable rockers off the two seventy three and the push rugs to make them work... and your next cam gets solid lifters... That's for the three sixty, when you blow up the three eighteen....
Question what are adjustable heads????....
Cash, those stock exhaust manifolds in for scrap metal....

Back to a helpful note... I did find a set of good used 1.88 high performance intake valves for your "J" 360 heads. Start a conversation if interested.

Welp aren't getting anything decent these days in an A body for cheap. The time for cheap was late 80s early 90s...last Duster I looked at in summer of 2019 had a 318 auto rusty Lf frame rail rot and no interior but it ran and I could have drove it away. I offered the kid 3800 he said nope go kick rocks he wanted 5 if it weren't for the frame rot i would have done it.
