Help CUDACHICK

I have a question... this seems like a whole lot for ONE random winner to get all to him/herself. Why not get together with some other members here and split the prizes up so we can have multiple winners? Is it planned that everything will be awarded to one person?
i think there was some talk about multiple winners.

In the works as we speak guys on the how too's and yes there will be many drawings and all will not go to one "Young Gun". You'll be glad to be associated with this bunch.

Zach, when I came up with this I had no idea what kind of response I'd get. It's been pretty overwhelming and honestly a LOT more than I expected or hoped for!

One of the other entrants suggested giving away 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes; others have indicated that multiple drawings would be preferable to spread the contest out for awhile, generate more interest / membership, and give more than one person an opportunity to win something.

As I've said all along, I'm open to suggestions so bring 'em on! At this point --- with well over two full months of donation time still left to go -- fifteen prizes could be split three ways for a drawing in January, another in April, and another in August.

What do ya'll think??? Please post your ideas here for open discussion instead of putting this all on me in the form of private messages. FABO is and always has been a democracy and I'm not much of a dictatress. :-D

Alright sounds good. Sorry if I didn't catch the other people bringing it up. I miss things sometimes, haha.

thanks everyone who's donated! like people before me have said, even if I don't win, this whole thing is a great idea!

and leanna seems to be willing to work with everyone ot come up with an equal plan. I couldnt imagine being in her shoes!

I'm excited for whoever(or multiple people) recieves the prize package(s)!

wow, when I put my entry in there was only a few people who had posted stories....It is really cool to see that the ball is still rolling and JR.mopar heads are still putting there stories out....I agree, win or lose....its cool to see everyones stories and see that we all have alot in common and relate to some of the things one another said.

Keep the stories coming fellow young guns.....whoever wins is in for one awesome prize package.

After the prizes have all came in from all the generous fabo members who donated to the cause..... I think they desearve something for being such great people.....if I had something to give in such large numbers ...I would.

OR

How about a counter drawing leanna? for all the people who donated (also to encourage donations) a drawing in which the winner receives some sort of prize? I just thought it might be kind of cool to do for those who pitched in... what do you guys think?

I wish everyone luck

Floorman sent me a PM advising he was able to come up with $65 rather than $50, so his cash donation (Item #15) has been updated.

As he indicated in a prior post, amzchad on the west coast has offered up a non-running 318 but the winner will have to make arrangements to pick it up or get it shipped.

After HE read Chad's post, 65 Dartman (who previously donated Item #4 and who lives on the east coast) has graciously offered up a good running 318 with a Thermoquad intake (including an adapter for a square bore carb) still mated to a decent 727! He "also might be induced to include the Holley" carburetor since he's really a Carter man.

Soooooooooo now we've got even more cash toward an aftermarket gift certificate, two small blocks on both coasts, and even a tranny!!!

AGAIN, THE WINNERS OF THE 318s/727 WILL HAVE TO EITHER MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHIPPING OR PICK UP THESE PRIZES IN PERSON.

Wow, you guys are AWESOME!!!

16. A non-running 318 from amzchad … the winner must make arrangements to pick it up or get it shipped

17. A good running 318 with a Thermoquad intake (including an adapter for a square bore carb) and decent 727 from 65 Dartman … the winner must make arrangements to pick it up or get it shipped

Sorry about the long post, but it's necessary and important. I need some input.

With all the swag this contest is generating, it's about time to make some firm decisions about how it will all be given away, and when. This is what I'm thinking (and I invite your suggestions / opinions / changes as always ... I don't want to generate any hard feelings by playing The Queen With The Iron Hand here):

a. Donations for the 2010 Young Guns Story Contest will close on January 30, 2010. Any prize donations received after that date will be reserved for the 2011 Young Guns Story Contest.

b. We should spread the 2010 contest out for a year and have FOUR winners during that year rather than one winner. The first will be randomly selected from all entries on January 31, 2010 as now scheduled, the second on April 30, 2010, the third on August 30, 2010, and the fourth on December 31, 2010. This will allow more young guns an opportunity to win something, attract new members throughout the year, and get even more stories posted giving these kids the recognition they deserve.

c. Once a winner is randomly selected for any quarterly drawing, their name should be removed from future drawings to keep it as fair as possible.

Or do ya'll think their name should be put back into the pot so they can win more than once???

d. Unlike the prize donations, I don't believe there should be a closing date on story posting. For example, if a young gun registers with FABO on May 3, 2010, posts a story and emails me their post link, he/she should have an equal opportunity to win one of the future drawings.

e. All prizes donated for the 2010 Young Guns Story Contest will be divided by four or as equally as possible on January 31, 2010 before the first drawing is held. Right now, with 17 prizes on the list, that obviously won't be easy.

What I'm having trouble deciding is WHAT each winner will receive ... but let's say for argument's sake that on January 31 we've got 28 prize donations. Does the January 31 winner get their choice of 7 prizes, or the first 7 prizes on the list, or selected and distributed by the people who donated, or what??? It's not like the December 31 winner will 'get stuck with a bunch of crap' because everything on the list is desireable. But if a winner has a 1973 big block Scamp with brand new Billet Specialties rims on it, then the 67 Barracuda parts, a 318/727 combo and bbp rallys won't do them a lot of good.

I don't know ... that's what you guys are for. LOL Talk to me!!! :-D

As before, please make your suggestions here for open discussion and other members' input. There's still quite a bit of time before the January 31 drawing will be held, so give it some thought and post away!

Thanks again to everyone for the fabulous donations and participation in the contest. It's no wonder FABO's so famous ... ya all are awesome!

Read my post again. I think u read it wrong. The engine I will donate doesn't run

Wow!!! Alot to read. I think the winner should get what would best help his project.. Let's say I win ( please...) i think the prize that would best help me with my project is one of the 318's because I don't have anything for a project yet.. Or another example say the guy who just won just got a new intake that he wants powder coated. Give him the $100 gift card... Etc, etc, am I making sense??

I say If you choose 4 winners and there are 28 prizes. Then each winner should come out with 7 prizes. Choose the prizes as a Draft style like the NFL. Keep an order of the 1st winner that was chosen and then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

so the 1st winner chooses 1 prize. Then 2nd winner chooses a prize. Then 3rd winner chooses a prize. then 4th chooses a prize. Then the 1st winner chooses his 2nd prize. 2nd winner chooses their 2nd prize..ect..

I think this would makes sense. something similar to this. because then people who need certain things more than other things could prioritize what they want. And this would also help prevent people from recieving prizes that they don't need. For example the 4speed carpet. Some people with auto transmissions might have no need for that.

So In my idea, the (4) winners for the yearly drawing could be drawn all at one time. So on Jan 31st 2010, 4 winners could be chosen. and do the draft style pick of prizes. Then after Jan 31st, people can start donating towards another drawing that wouldn't end until like Jan. of 2011.. Then in Jan. of 2011, another 4 winners would be chosen for the prizes that were gathered between Jan. 2010 and Jan 2011..

think this idea would be good.. everyone feel free to add more ideas and comment/criticize my ideas..

Fred, I see the point.

The only problem is that the winners of the January 31, April 30 and August 30 drawings have to wait until after December 31 to get his / her other prizes, or everyone has to wait until all drawings have been concluded before anything will get distributed. If more than one winner needs the same prize for their project, how will that winner be selected?

Keep those ideas coming guys! You've got good ones.

wow this contest is awesome. thank you so much cudachick this is gonna rock for someone. i like the idea of the nfl style draft pick but then the first winner would have to wait till the end of the year. i dont think any of us young guys would want to wait that long knowing the whole time they won something. maby the first two pick their 7 a piece (just a number) then the next two pick theirs. or first place winner gets his or her prizes then the next person kinda comes in 2nd. no one will complain they are getting free swag lol again thank you cudachick and all who have and will donate. if i get this job i am wanting i will throw in something lol. maby a mystery junk yard treasure box lol

Hmmmm...I do not know what would be a good way to go about it, to be honest its got me all confused now lol.

I think doing it 4 winners over a period of 2010 is a good idea but I think breaking the current prize package up into 4 separate chunks and spreading it across a years time might leave people without what they were hoping to win.......I think the donations/prizes should end prior to the drawing so that you know how many donations you have and what they are of.... And I think then you should divide them up into categories of 1st prize, 2nd prize, 3rd prize and even a 4th prize or so......and have 1st prize be the most desirable of prizes and so on. Its hard to say with it being such a variety of things because so many people may have no use for any of the stuff or no way to get to the east coast to get a prize and they would then want the stuff such as cash prize and gift certificates and things like that and then the 2nd runner up may be in the same position and be stuck with having to settle for the things they may not need.

Some of the donations I would call very generous and thoughtful but not necessarily practical for the type of contest this is.

It would work out much easier if there were equal amounts of identical things, but of course, that is not the case lol.

What ever is decided, I will not pull my entry out of the contest lol and I would be glad to take whatever I may have won (if I won) and if there was something I did not need that I was given I would then pass it on to another fabo member who did need it and make it know who it was originally donated by so they are still acknowledged for there kind gesture.

I am SOOO sorry for the long post, just trying to get my thoughts on the hole thing out there.

well i'm thinking that instead of 4 different drawings like that, 4 winners can be chosen during the january drawing. And then no winners selected until Jan of the next year. If more than one winner needs the same prize, they would have to try to prioritize and make that their "first round draft pick". lol

just an idea though..

THANKS AGAIN LEANNA!!! ALL OF US YOUNG GUNS APPRECIATE IT!!

I AGREE! I would do the same thing. all Donations are appreciated. And i'm sure whoever the winner(s) is/are will greatly appreciate EVERY prize they get!

I know I will!!

another idea.....may be good, may be bad.........but....lets say there are 40 prize donations, devide that by 3 or 4 or however many winner you decide should be chose,1st place , 2nd,3rd and or 4th place winner if there is 4 winners lets say the 1st winner gets pick 10 items they want being that they came in 1st, then 2nd ,3rd and 4th place winners are randomly issued 10 numbers out of the remaining 30 numbers (prizes) this will decide who gets what prizes......afterwords,if there is a prize someone does not want or need, there can be a "swap" for those who are interested in possibly swapping for another members item.

You could even issue all prizes to all winners randomly the way I am talking about.

like I said, may or may not be a great idea but an idea none the less lol

something along those lines might be a good idea. because its not like the "1st place" winner did anything different to get in first place. It was just the luck of the draw..

Personally I think that:
a) The prizes should be split up, to maitain intrest in the drawing and share the wealth with all young guns (and there'd be better chances so after the winneris pickedthe others wouldn't be so bummed that they missed out on it. I'm not going to be proud here; if it gives me a better chance at winning such a great contest, I like it, lol.
b) Drawings should be spread throughout the year so there'd be a continuous flow of prizes and young gun interest. Anyone who has their birthday in December knows how it feels when you're a kid to be getting your presents in one time frame a year instead of spread out, ahahha.
c) Lets say there are 28 prizes in the package, and Leanna decides to draw 4 winners, then the 1st winner should pick out 7 prizes. After that, the second winner (lets say drawn 3 month later), after new donations are added to the prize package picks out 7 prizes. This way everyone would be getting the same amount, and new prizes would be continously added to the pot so there wouldn't be any situations where the prizes left for the 4th winner that year are all unusable on their car. Of course, after a while someone might just have to pick out a part that they won't be able to use, but they could always sell or trade it with someone here on FABO.
Again, this is just my contribution to the discussion, and we'll need to keep thinking about the distribution and making sure the last person to be drawn doesn't get stuck with the parts they need.
Thank you to Leanna for starting this and to all who've donated!!! I've been dreaming about those M/T valve covers since they've been added to the prize package, lol.

someone said that some of the entries were generous but may not be needed i dont feel thats true because at least you would have that option to get it if you wanted them
