Floorman sent me a PM advising he was able to come up with $65 rather than $50, so his cash donation (Item #15) has been updated.
As he indicated in a prior post, amzchad on the west coast has offered up a non-running 318 but the winner will have to make arrangements to pick it up or get it shipped.
After HE read Chad's post, 65 Dartman (who previously donated Item #4 and who lives on the east coast) has graciously offered up a good running 318 with a Thermoquad intake (including an adapter for a square bore carb) still mated to a decent 727! He "also might be induced to include the Holley" carburetor since he's really a Carter man.
Soooooooooo now we've got even more cash toward an aftermarket gift certificate, two small blocks on both coasts, and even a tranny!!!
AGAIN, THE WINNERS OF THE 318s/727 WILL HAVE TO EITHER MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHIPPING OR PICK UP THESE PRIZES IN PERSON.
Wow, you guys are AWESOME!!!

Sorry about the long post, but it's necessary and important. I need some input.
With all the swag this contest is generating, it's about time to make some firm decisions about how it will all be given away, and when. This is what I'm thinking (and I invite your suggestions / opinions / changes as always ... I don't want to generate any hard feelings by playing The Queen With The Iron Hand here):
a. Donations for the 2010 Young Guns Story Contest will close on January 30, 2010. Any prize donations received after that date will be reserved for the 2011 Young Guns Story Contest.
b. We should spread the 2010 contest out for a year and have FOUR winners during that year rather than one winner. The first will be randomly selected from all entries on January 31, 2010 as now scheduled, the second on April 30, 2010, the third on August 30, 2010, and the fourth on December 31, 2010. This will allow more young guns an opportunity to win something, attract new members throughout the year, and get even more stories posted giving these kids the recognition they deserve.
c. Once a winner is randomly selected for any quarterly drawing, their name should be removed from future drawings to keep it as fair as possible.
Or do ya'll think their name should be put back into the pot so they can win more than once???
d. Unlike the prize donations, I don't believe there should be a closing date on story posting. For example, if a young gun registers with FABO on May 3, 2010, posts a story and emails me their post link, he/she should have an equal opportunity to win one of the future drawings.
e. All prizes donated for the 2010 Young Guns Story Contest will be divided by four or as equally as possible on January 31, 2010 before the first drawing is held. Right now, with 17 prizes on the list, that obviously won't be easy.
What I'm having trouble deciding is WHAT each winner will receive ... but let's say for argument's sake that on January 31 we've got 28 prize donations. Does the January 31 winner get their choice of 7 prizes, or the first 7 prizes on the list, or selected and distributed by the people who donated, or what??? It's not like the December 31 winner will 'get stuck with a bunch of crap' because everything on the list is desireable. But if a winner has a 1973 big block Scamp with brand new Billet Specialties rims on it, then the 67 Barracuda parts, a 318/727 combo and bbp rallys won't do them a lot of good.
I don't know ... that's what you guys are for. LOL Talk to me!!! :-D
As before, please make your suggestions here for open discussion and other members' input. There's still quite a bit of time before the January 31 drawing will be held, so give it some thought and post away!
Thanks again to everyone for the fabulous donations and participation in the contest. It's no wonder FABO's so famous ... ya all are awesome!
