I was able to pick up a Hemi longblock for cheap. It’s a truck engine that had a camshaft failure. Customer decided to put in a new engine so I was able to get the old core engine. Engine was still in great shape - cylinder walls and camshaft bearings look good. My son and I did some cleaning...
Thank you very much for the info. I went ahead and ordered a pair of Nexen brand through work. Only ones we could get. I’ll see in a few days how they look. Think they were $90 something a piece
The Dart is still around. Plans changed a lot in the time since my last post. Decided to go Gen 3 Hemi. Lots of part collecting and figuring things out. Trying to keep it a low budget build as much as possible. 2014 5.7 and going to run my 727 trans for now.
Selling a used pair of cylinder heads for a Gen 3 Hemi. These are the Eagle heads for 2009 and up Hemi. Perfect for someone looking to upgrade a pre- eagle. Asking $400 plus shipping. I have a set of rockers and pushrods and one valve cover for an additional price. Located in NW Atlanta 30132...
I’m selling a Mopar Crate PCM. Part #P5160105

So did you keep the shim under the spring ? When you buy a replacement spring for a 5.7 they come with the metal shim. The new 68277306aa doesn’t. So that’s why I’m a little confused. I agree with the above post about always running the shim on an aluminum head
When you replaced your valve springs with the Mopar ones did you keep the shim or washer under the valve spring? I just bought the same springs but not sure which way to go. Mine is a 14 5.7
Thanks
Thanks for all the replies. My original thought was to remove it but wasn’t sure if I was overthinking it. I know the metal underneath should be in good shape since it has been covered for 40 plus years now by factory undercoat. It’s not going to be a show car but want to do it the right way...
