My car was delivered with two breathers, one on each valve cover. I've read some conflicting information regarding the need for a PVC valve connected to the carb. I'm replacing the carb with a Holley Sniper unit in a couple of weeks, but my question is "do I really need a pvc valve or will a breather on each valve cover do just fine?".

Thanks in advance!

PCV, It is used to draw the internal engine fumes out, a breather will only lets say blow by out.

Also the power brake booster vacuum line should go to the back of the carb, not the front.

Also after you put the pvc in run a hose from the breather to the underside air cleaner, should have knockouts for it. Great looking engine compartment also!

Agree completely. The closed system will also help keep the engine compartment clean. I ran two breathers once and regretted it. Had oily residue all over things and was a mess to clean up. PCV with breather tube going to the air cleaner is the way to go!

You need to have both PVC and breather, they work together to evac fumes and pressure built up in the crankcase.
Contrary to popular belief, when properly applied the breather actual draws fresh air in and is mixed with the fumes and exhausted into the engine via the PCV.

Thanks everyone. I just ordered a PVC valve and will install it, running it to the port on my carb for now.

You guys have better eyes than me! I'm still not seeing it. But I'll take a close look when I get home later this week.
