What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Finally got my 3.91 third member from Quik Performance, going to be putting that in the Dart with two new mufflers and a Lube Locker trans pan gasket with the help of my son this weekend. Don't know whether I'm going to sell my 3.55's or put them in storage.

After spending most of my spare time working on my new engine build, I finally pulled the car out of the garage yesterday and gave it a bath. Today was a car cruise at the engine shop honouring my buddy who used to build my engines who passed away several years ago. The were several A bodies there, and one imposter

I changed out the generic chrome air cleaner with more period correct on my Plymouth B-body. The wingnut was alittle tight. So it's Miller Time for a beer well earned.

Fixed a flat, got it fired up after sitting for about 3 years backed in the weeds at a rental house I own. I gave it a quick shower and drove about 2 miles to home. It needs lots of love for sure, but that's, what it's all about right

Changed heater core, changed carburetor, fixed all wiring started the beast after 2007- 2020 picked up working on the duster again sitting in garage. At that time I did floors/quarters, trunk, fenders, bumpers, grill. It’s running will drive for first time since 2007 this weekend fingers crossed. Waiting on new gas tank and sending unit.

Sweet ride you have.

I didn't look very hard, but not a lot out there on accelerator pedal charges in a /6 to V8 swap. Been working though it all and got the holes drilled in the firewall. Found the pedal pivot bracket holes as well.

There were dimples in the firewall where the plate mounts. Decided to go JB Weld to patch the prior carnage from the previous 2 pedal installs. Backed it with tape to patch. I'll grind that down once it cures.

The dimple in the top of the plate matches up to the bulkhead connector.

Going to find some material to use as the foam gasket to seal things up

Yesterday we had a picnic at a club member's house. One of the festivities was a burn out contest down the homeowner's driveway. We are an all makes and models car club. Here are the videos I shot:

Like good ole days

Yesterday: Spread 15-1/2 ton of Class 5 with a rental Bobcat.

Today: Assembled most of the frame for the new 24' x 13' Shelter Logic garage/shed. But since the Class 5 isn't "true", I have a lot of leveling-out by hand to do each night after work this week.

Even with my whacked back, I was able to replace the leaky gas tank in my Demon. Now my range is no longer limited to a gallon jug of gas tied to the inner fender.

Well, that didn't end well.

Second sudden coolant evacuation in less than a month. 440 #3 coming soon for this car.

Made some 1/2 aluminum blocks to shim my rearend back a little in order to center the larger tires (295/55/15 Drag Radials) in the wheel opening better. They were pretty tight to the front before. I replaced the stock spring hanger bolts with longer grade 8 bolts. I also flipped the spring hangers upside down to lower the rearend a bit. It was sitting pretty high with the ESPO +1 inch leaf springs. Then I measured for the new short driveshaft need for the Gear vendors Overdrive I just installed.
Getting close for a test drive! Hoping the driveshaft shop can get to it in short order.

Took the 71 Demon to a little local show to hang out with a bunch of Mopar friends. Good times!

Probably like a lot of you experience, there sure are a lot of people that bring new Mustangs of all flavors. Raise the hood(?) and I guess think it looks good. Meh...I can't get into it!

I decided to replace my roadkill fuel pump toggle switch with a proper one hooked up through the ignition switch with a relay. I finished the under hood side, I'll finish under the dash later.

I'm still sorting out some little **** after I did a major upgrade on it this spring. A power steering leak, and that's about it!
