My current tow vehicle is a B250 full size van. It runs about the same as your old tow vehicle. It went 15.8's consistent.

I'm 41. Started going to t&t when I was 18-19. Took a long break from the track and started to go back about 10 years ago to watch some friends. I would race my truck from time to time and after a season I decided to find a car and build it, which is the duster I have now.
The last 3.5 years I have slowed from racing due to my wife getting sick, having a baby, and buying a new house / selling our old house. Currently I'm taking a brake to clear some land to build a 40x48 pole building garage.

I feel your pain. Wife and 3 kids. Sadly 2 now. They have never had a car in the shop except for tires. As you said. Keeps me from working on my stuff. I'm last in line. Most times outside as well. Winter sucks and when I get home from work in the summer the sun is right smack in the driveway. I'll be 66 in a couple of days. Getting too old to be the Family mechanic.

"49" Always been interested in drag cars since the neighbor had a SBC 1961 M/P corvette in the mid-1970's. But didn't start learning anything until in 1990ish (after I got out of the USAF) I found that the old oil filter gasket could stick onto the motor you were changing oil/filter on. Probably one of the best lessons I learned is no matter how smart you are, a fresh set of eyes is hard to beat. I've only ever test/tuned and mainly helped others with cars using a conservative mindset. I'm hoping to show an established community of national competitors how well an outgunned hillbilly can fight starting in July.
63 and first time on a drag strip was when I was in high school back when time slips were handwritten…. lol
My church wants to start a program for the members where we do oil changes and brake job type of work for its members. Sometimes you have to think about your own health and I’m just not capable of doing work I hate with my beat up body.
Make sure after that building is up heat and a lift are not far behind. Air conditioning is nice but proper use of fans goes a long way.

Yes, I snowblowed at my church for over 20 years. Finally gave it up as I was doing the church, my house, My neighbors house (Retired fire fighter), my dad's house (In his 90's). All usually after work. Wouldn't get home till late.

I am 70 years old and and went back to stick shift racing in 2001 just to put the excitement back into racing.
First time I ran the quarter mile was in 1973 with my 69 Coronet R/T at South Glens Falls Dragway in up state N.Y.
First time slip was a 2x2 piece of paper with 14.69 written on it, still have it somewhere along with the class ( E/S Auto) winners sticker stock to the back of it.
PRH Glens Falls was always a fun track, I like going there more than Lebanon Valley, a lot more relaxed atmosphere there.

Same here. It's hard, you know no one can do the job the way you like it. Believing in trust of someone else is my problem.

I bought a 1974 Duster 360 in 1975 . Started racing in 1975. My first pass was low 9's in the 1/8th. I'm still racing the same car. Now run's 5.40 in the 1/8th. Same body and factory paint but tube chassis. Can't imagine life without racing. By the way I'm going to be 68 in july.

Heating is not necessary in my garage, a/c is. 105-110° is common, and the swamp cooler is overwhelmed often. I usually work from 5-9 a.m.

Ya he’s in my area so I know heat ie necessary. Especially with a pole building. My heat is ready to go in October and used through April at times

Looks like there are a couple of people who raced at South Glens falls. Was not in my area, but I raced at South Glens Falls, and North Hudson one time each back in 1964.
Jesus doesn’t want to hear me swearing. The church Decons don’t either. Lol
That sounds like a well meaning, but TERRIBLE kind of idea a church council would come up with. But hey, if Jesus built your hotrod, someone has to maintain it!
