Looks that way. Last night I left a paperclip hanging from front of block, this morning it’s on the ground. I also gave it a couple firm wacks (East to west). I have also been using a jewelers file on a sting to check the strength of magnetism. Now it seems no attraction is left. It just needed...
yup hagerty is good for me. Gave them the value I wanted to insure for. My policy does say I'll park it inside. They have a good magazine that comes with my policy too, added bonus.
Yeah sorry to through you into that. Just doesn’t seem right to have an engine that metal wants to cling too. It is definitely losing its intensity. Mag powder blows off tonight which didn’t move much last night. After reading up on degaussing I’m very curious how to build my own at this point too.
Thanks Rusty but I think YR already beat you to the punch that I’m a mechanical idiot. I’m sure both of you are very good at whatever it is that you guys do. Worry or not, it doesn’t sound like you know how to demagnetize an engine block at home with common tools. Maybe you do but why wouldn’t...
Cool, hopefully when I get home it is getting weaker. I still got to bring in block for cylinder work. If after that it still is magnetic I'll take action then. I'm definitely open to suggestions and insight how others demag things big at home, other than a ballpeen east to west.
That is what I thought until a 5/32 round file almost was able to hang from the block by itself.
Does magnetism effect bearings and journals? Would it mess with anything else. I don't have a compass on the dash so no worries there lol.
Ok just got done checking for cracks on a pair of heads and a block with magnaflux. Everything checked out just fine. I started to clean up the block and noticed some of the iron filings were standing up on the corner of the deck. I'm thinking I just turned my block into a magnet, not good.
I...
Yup not saying right or wrong, it has been talked about longer than I’ve been alive, but half cocked on certain guns with one in the chamber can be “safer.” If hammer is released it is riding on the firing pin and it is believed if there is an impact on the hammer energy could be transferred to...
Nice work!! My wife and girls have been knocking out quit a few too. Any help makes a difference. Haven’t heard of any mask drives around us in WA. I’m sure they will stack up over there, good luck, stay safe.
If you call up an old tranny shop they might set you up. I got a new TC with weights already on after I rebuilt my 360. Previous owner used TC off the 318 when he swapped in the first 360
I had a similar problem, over 2000 rpm car felt like it would shake apart or if pulling a grade hard it would do some funky shaking. Found out previous owner rebuilt Torque Converter and didn't have the external wight placed correctly. New Torque converter and built new drivline as the old one...
Removed rockers to inspect valves and sure enough they are not ideally set up, my fault. So I got some measurements and am about ready to send off for some shaft mounting spacers. How bad are they really, I am shooting for narrower width and more centered wear marks on the valve tips. After that...
the no drama part I can agree with and I can do what I need to do on nights but going to court after a night shift like ZMAN I would be tough. Zombies are not a good witness
