    HP gains?

I won’t cut up the car. Weld in bar? Sure. I can cut a bar out of the car and you would really have to look to tell it had been there. No frame connectors, but not really shocking anything. By the time you are, you should have a bar and that stiffens the car up. Don’t want the connector weight.

understanding a low oil pressure 360

By saying the gauge is “good” means you put a different one on and it confirms the low pressure? You can get a bore scope and look through the oil drain back in the head. To see how much “leakage” you have at the lifters, but can you really say “that is why” by looking at it? One thing that is...

    My 340

Hold on, your converter stall is pretty low. My guess is after filling out the converter spec sheet you would get 4800+ stall recommendations. You don’t have the CI or gear to get it moving. Does the 904 have the low first gear set? Never mind 727.

    HP gains?

It’s better, not what you want to hear, but stroked LA’s need all the head flow you can get and like stated above, it really is just a number. Mine made 348 at the rear tire, but runs 119 mph at 3300 lbs. where and how is more important than the number.

410 LA small block will not rev past 6000

I second the “if the head work was done well” the heads are not the reason. If the cam will do it (I have no idea) my guess is the lifters giving up or ignition

    Head gasket woes

Is that gasket hanging over into the bore? Like you have a 4.04 bore and a 4.03 gasket. Hard to see. If the fire ring impedes into the bore it can create a hot spot and detonation can happen. Also could the balancer have spun? Are the numbers you’re seeing accurate?

Maximum Performance N/A 383 build. Input wanted from engine gurus.

If most of us were in the conference room when they were taking about each engine. We would be like “there is some serious low hanging fruit with the B/RB heads. I would like to purpose a new casting” and the bean counters would laugh and say “why? If the customer wants more performance? Tell...

Maximum Performance N/A 383 build. Input wanted from engine gurus.

If I read it correctly, the heads are done and short block assembled. All I have to add, from what I have heard 280 cfm out of a stock casting is probably achievable. People don’t realize that B/RB heads were like a step kid in the “let’s improve it” idea. The pinnacle head was the hemi, why...

Oil Rings, do I have a problem?

Yeah it is open on the sides. The pig mat is like a roll of paper towels. Pull off however many squares you need. That is 3 squares? The sheet metal is actually a lower fender patch piece I didn’t need and was just laying around. Drilled two holes and that’s it.

No prep Kings screws the pooch in Texas

Ran the 7.0 index once. Would have run it again, but when you “register” at the track, they tell you, this is NOT A RACE. It is a TV show. I got paired with a guy through their chip draw, was told you MUST race the car you draw. If you don’t, you lose. Sitting behind the burnout box and they...

Oil Rings, do I have a problem?

Pig mat is oil absorbent mat. No making fun of my art work! I can get a picture tonight. A 90 deg lip on the front then 3-4”s back leaving about 1” between it and the “bellhousing” for the pig mat. I melt 2 holes through the mat and place the bolts for the cover through the holes. I actually...

    Roller lifter conversation

The problem is the chamfer on the lifter bore is wildly all over the place. Some deep, some not. It could uncover the band on the base circle also. The worn bores are what they are. A bunch of oil pressure is lost there. You can measure how worn they are then decide if it is acceptable. You...

340/420 90psi Oil Pressure During Prime

If it is a new build, never run before you should see puddles on top of the head. Don’t panic if you don’t. If it is dry, you will want to pull the distributor and prime it again while slowly turning the engine over by hand. It will, at some point line the oil holes up and oil should flow to the...

Oil Rings, do I have a problem?

I wouldn’t worry about the oil. Oil will settle in the bores when upside down and can seep by. I hope that your seal leak is fixed. Something I have come to grips with, is I have done the chase the rear seal leak WAY too many times. I have gone a different route for a while now. If it is the...

Four Link Suspension, how does it work?

A 4 link allows you to change your instant center. Changing the instant center allows you to tailor how hard the car tries to throw the rear axle down and separate. You do need to know what it currently does. To help visualize, the instant center on a pure leaf spring car is the front spring...

360 stalls on deceleration from throttle blip

It’s an AVS, don’t think it is sloshing out of the vent. Just think it is uncovering the jet. For a hot minute I thought about putting the BIG front torsion bars and sway bars back in it and trying a solo event for the hell of it, but would need to solve that issue. Actually now I don’t have...
