I don't know about 273s, but I can tell you that I put a complete MSD system in my 69 340 (mechanical advance distributor, coil, plug wires and ignition box). It was a huge improvement. The car starts, idles and runs better than before the swap. It was an excellent investment.

Sounds more like brake lights. Barring any electrical shorts, if current was being sent to the taillights, I would think you would likely see the front running lights on also.

I agree with what everybody above has said. I would add that you should get a multimeter, if you don't already have one. Don't make any assumptions as you start to run the diagnosis. It could be a bad connection at the Firewall plugs, a bad switch, bad ground, bad bulb/horn, etc. You need to...

Yes. I installed the MSD system (including MSD wires) in my 69 Barracuda with a moderately modified 340. I followed MSD's suggestion of bypassing the ballast as mentioned by @abodyjoe. The improvement was marked. Instant starts, better idle and better throttle response. It's been about 4 years...

Thanks. I have looked around, and about all I can find is hard steel rivets that are really hard to pound into shape. I need to find something softer. These rivets drilled out very easily.
