Anyone have a list of Plymouth dealers….

I have had some success looking up old business directories for cities online. You could try that for Bowie MD, 1970. But there is no universal source for finding out the dealer where a particular car was sold. Occasionally, if the dealer is still in existence, you can get information from them...

    Weighed my car today

My nearly stock 67 Barracuda fastback (273/904 manual s&b) weighed in at something like 3400 when I was buying garden rocks. Probably had a small toolbox in the trunk plus the full size spare. Anything under 3300 on a wide A-body is lighter than stock, really.

It has come to my attention....oil evac units????

If you had ever had them crossthread your oil filter, you would be avoiding these outfits like the plague, and we wouldn't be having this conversation... You get what you pay for, and is this case it is minimum wage employees working as fast as possible with minimal training.

What is your car's rarest option?

I think Plymouth felt that the only distinguishing feature of the Barracuda was the big glass fastback — a convertible would be literally nothing but a re-badged Valiant, and they really wanted to avoid calling attention to the Valiant connection. But it could have worked if they dropped the...

    Cross-Country Road Trip in a '68 Barracuda

Sounds like a good trip. Do try to save weight on non-essentials like clothes and snacks <grin>. I think the spare starter is bit much — it weighs a ton and you can buy one anywhere in the US. If you are dubious about the starter, replace it before you start. Definitely carry some other kind of...

Please help decode my 67 Barracuda fender tag

I wasn't doubting you, Alan, just surprised that that combo would be available. I wonder what's in the car now? There seemed to be black paint on the tag, all right.

Black with blue & white interior???? That is a very weird color combo. Can that be right?

67 Barracuda- Brakes and suspension on a 5000 budget- advice needed

My low budget performance build: Factory manual steering. Factory manual K-H 4-piston disc brakes with cross-drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads. A-body 8.75 SG with factory 10 x 1-3/4 drums. Welded and reinforced 68-up K frame. Front and rear sway bars (1-1/8 and 3/4, respectively)...

    flip top gas cap/ 65 dart ?

Just guessing that you'd need the filler neck from a Barracuda coupe or convertible... the fastback had a different pipe shape that enters the floor at different angle, and takes a different gasket. Of course, a 65 trunk floor won't be the same as a 67-69, anyway, so you may have some mods to...

    open vs unsilenced air cleaner

Depends — some "unsilenced" air cleaners can be pretty restrictive. For example, on slant sixes, some of the 10" baseplates leave something like a 1/8" gap all the way around — that's not much area for air intake. On the other hand, most V8s have a much larger gap that is effectively the same as...

Long time owner, first time poster, with odd question

Yes, they make generic adjustable bike racks that can be locked into different shapes to accommodate different trunk depths. One thing is, the hooks can chip the paint around the edges of the lid, and the rack doesn't sit far enough off the back edge to keep the pedal or accessories from making...

    '65 Formula S brake/wheel/trans specs?

According to this 1965 sales brochure, the Formula S package included "wide 14-inch wheels with wide tread tires". But disc brakes were a dealer-installed option. No 10-inch drums shown. Formula S included the "Rally Pack" suspension (HD springs & shocks plus sway bar). Directory Index...

    K frame lowering blocks

That isn't really germane. The torsion bar is designed to carry a load in rotation (transmitted through the control arm). This would add a straight vertical deflection load. It is not in any way designed for that. I don't understand why the SS cars would have had spacers. They had enormous hood...

    BLACK 67 BARRACUDA GRILL ?

The grill MESH (egg crate) on a 67 is always black. The inner returns of the grill surround are argent. The edges of the surrounds are bright aluminum. Cars of this era are designed to have brightwork trim. "Blackout" trim is an eighties import thing and IMO is not attractive on these cars...

Silicone as an exhaust manifold sealant??

I recommend Hylomar AF for manifold gaskets. It is a sticky blue goo that doesn't dry — it stays pliable so the manifolds can slide as they expand and contract, but it really fills all the gaps, even with the low torque. And it is super easy cleanup compared to anything that hardens up — it just...

3D printed body parts? Anyone tried?

Yeah, at this point in the technology it is more suited to smaller non-structural items. Arm rest bases would be a good example, if they weren't already being repopped. The small 69 'Cuda' hood scoops might be a good candidate, but again, you can already buy them. To make it cost-effective, it...

    A body 11'' disk brakes

I think they made a typo in the ad. Or they were thinking about the drum brake diameter. The Kelsey-Hayes discs are 11.04 x 13/16in, to be precise. I was just working on a set in my carport ten minutes ago.

Windshield trim for a 67 Barracuda

Barracuda/Dart hardtop windshield trim is the same 67-69 (with 67 being the plastic lockstrip, and 68-69 stainless). So a Dart hardtop is the same as a Barracuda. By "hardtop" I mean "2-door sports hardtop" — the 2dr and 4dr sedans have different windshield trim, as do the later Dusters, Demons...

Show Us Your Convertible In The Snow

You are right! This was in April a few years ago. Another trip... I once stuffed my fastback into a drift on 66 out of Ashland OR heading to K-Falls. This was before digital cameras or cell phones, for that matter, so no pix. Night was falling, it was snowing hard, there was nobody on the road...

    Difference in power steering pumps?

One more thing to think about. The Saginaw pump is better able to handle quick steering inputs. The Federal struggles on quick left-rights (autocross, mountain roads). That's why I changed from a Federal to a Saginaw on my 67 Barracuda (that and I bent the pulley which is not available).

    Difference in power steering pumps?

I believe 1967 at least used a Federal pump (that is what was on my 1967 Barracuda). The TRW pump is the same thing. Saginaw takes different brackets and a different pulley (I know this because I installed a Saginaw pump as a replacement). About the listings, Mopar kind of screwed-up the...

Parts ID help, cuda fuel filler tubes and tank straps

Straps: 67 had one strap side-to-side. 68-69 had a pair of straps for and aft. Changed it so they could more easily fit dual exhaust. Yeah, Barracuda FB filler necks are different. So is the trunk floor and the floor gasket.

    Free Saturn rocket

Come to think of it, I don't know why you would have to spend that much for shipping. Just pay for a couple truckloads of LOX and liquid hydrogen and you could fly that thing anywhere short of the international space station. Landing might be tricky...

    Free Saturn rocket

Reliable, too. No Saturn ever failed on launch, unlike a lot of other rockets we could name. Fact: The Stage 1 burn was only 155 seconds for a moon launch (at which point it was doing 17,000mph, BTW), but they tested every single engine for 1000 seconds continuous thrust. Do you think a Top Fuel...
