    All of the cheap headers I've used have to be dinged a little bit or a pry bar between the powersteering box and the header tube to push the tube flat a little. They're also known to interfere with the steering coupler.idler arm is known to scrape against them too

    If you bypassed the ballast, the coil wore should be hot. Unless the ignition switch at the key is toast. Jump a wire straight from the + battery to the +coil

    You lose , typically, .020 IF the rocker pattern is centered or real close. No. 3 and 4 exh push rods might have sode angle as well, check.. they lose a lil more. Last one that was like the above example .575...net was .550

    Make sure your cross hatch is 60 degrees or near. The steaper... the more oil it'll eat...the flatter... the less oil the hatch will hold and the rings will wear faster and sealing is up in the air.

    He should redo the bottom end. No matter how you look at it... its gonna cost 2k when he's done with stock heads n bottom end , stock style rebuild. No squeeze is dead in the water. 107psi is as weak as a chili fart from a fat broads dump hole.

    Judt tailor the advance curve , starting with shortening it...so yoy can have 20 or more initial timing. The stumble could have been a couple things, carburetor mainly.

    4 mains is a weak point being the crank is 85 lbs The head isn't designed for much bigger than a 170/198 cid. The upgrade parts are pricey compared to v8... the trans needs upgrades from v8 versions once built up... the cheapest intake is around 400+$$$... They are great... for running along...

    Yeah, maybe. Those engines are 15+ yrs discontinued though. Finding a low miles one these days ,only by luck of the transmission going bad or wreck... but then sitting through hot/ cold weather condensation... infrequent oil changes is another one... the oil from blowby becomes acidic. I think...
