After my last project I am a big believer in saving as many factory welds as possible and replacing metal at the minimum. However, you have to consider that welding on old metal doesn't yield good results. It can work but won't be pretty which isn't a big consideration on a floor for many.

It depends what you want....a quick fix (nothing wrong with that) or the highest quality fix. I would say good luck welding a patch in to that rusty metal so you would be looking at a new front floor. For a quick fix I would try Por15 Patch. You got not much to lose.

What is this? I was thinking its a '69 air cleaner. Perhaps its 'restored' with a sticker?

I have what I think is a '69 and a '72 340 air cleaner and they both have 340 stickers on them. Would these be factory stickers? I'm not clear on whether some years came with stickers and some with plates. It seems the '70 340 air cleaner (elusive and expensive!) had a pie plate.

I seriously doubt they are functional as they are too low to the hood. The air will travel overtop of them.

Its a couple of hours from me and that is where it will stay.

You need a respirator with a P100 filter and a cartridge that protects against organic vapors.

You can buy. The overlays from national moparts in Canada. Detroit doesn’t ship up here.

I just did mine. I cleaned and lightly scuffed and sprayed with SEM.

ps if you are going to try respraying yourself I recommend Revell Chrome Spray although I can't say how durable it is.

I don't think anyone does plastic chroming anymore. You can get repros though Dash and Gauge
