Why disc brakes? I have used 10" drums and manual steering for years, no issues with either. Only discs you can use are 67-72 K-H 4-piston if you want to keep your small bolt pattern...

Uhhhh…. I pulled the spark plugs and squirted oil in each cylinder. With an old torque wrench, I gave it a spin and got a geyser out of #6. Then I spun some more… The spark plugs being at an angle helped me see where the water came from. Both # 5 and 6 had water. The intake ports...

I think '70 340 A bodies are the only '68 to '72 340 A bodies that had standard disc brakes.
