The lower dash pad sticks out from the top dash when I use the 1/2” long metal spacers on the lower dash pad but it lines up correctly without the spacers. What’s the answer, shorter spacers?

Thanks, my car has the chrome trim on the brake pedal, and a courtesy light under the passenger side of the dash but that might have been standard for convertibles. The doors have standard panels but I think the original doors along with the panels were replaced at some time.

Are the rubber stops for the lid on the center console for a 68 Barracuda the same as the ones on the glove box (the one on the right), or are they flatter like the one on the left?

The compartment is painted fibreglass so I assume I should prime this separate from the exterior

The storage compartment needs to be painted so should I prep that separately with SEM high build primer?

The paint shop recommended flex paint for my 68 Barracuda console. Is this the best way to go or would trim paint work just as well?

Okay, thanks. Why are many modern car speakers 4 ohms instead of 8 ohms?

Are the radios on the 2nd GEN a-bodies 8ohm? If so, is it possible to run a single 4 ohm speaker or do I have to run two 4 ohm speakers in series? The reason that I ask is that I have a single 4 ohm 4x10 that I’d like to install in the dash.

Did you also paint the rectangular outline with the chrome pen?

Should I use a washer on top or at the bottom before I add fibreglass?

Nothing on this car is healthy. In the past someone tried to attach the console to the rear hole on the transmission clip and blew out the bottom side and also damaged the hole. What’s the best way of repairing this? I don’t think I can clamp the damaged area tight enough to bring everything...

The original console colour was tan. I think the interior was originally tan as the original tan carpet (as far as I can tell) was dyed red at some point in its life.

Lacquer thinner worked the best at removing the paint but the process of rubbing a rag soaked with thinner on the console was extremely slow. I found the quickest method to remove the paint was to lay the console on its side and then apply a thick cotton cloth (folded to hold more thinner) and...

I’m hoping that filing down the edges of the pits will make them less noticeable. Plan B is to use a skim coat of epoxy to fill them

Has anyone had success using chrome tape on the curved portion of the console? I'd rather not get it rechromed

Looks good! Are the vertical sides of the console insert painted too? Most of the paint is gone from my insert.
