Power vs longevity.
We used to valve grind @ 60 - 80k mi.
Re-ring ~100 - 120k mi.
Leaded gas, ~180* thermostat.
Now we often get 200k with oil changes only.
Unleaded fuel, ~ 200* thermostat.
No question motor oil and metallurgy has come a long way .
5 deg Atdc is retarded, you want to have it 0 to 5 to 10 Btdc so it's advanced. If you are trying to set it per factory spec (67 dart 273 with CAP calls for 5 Atdc) it will probably run like a turd.
0 = 5 advanced over factory
5 = 10 advanced over factory
I typically run 0 to 5 advanced as...
That looks like a product of Labatt's. I remember when they made the really cool B-5 blue metal cans with the Red Canadian Maple leaf on the label. Those were beautifully made cans. I had a few different ones in my beer can collection back in the 1970's LOL
So according to the VIN it was indeed a 360 car originally, and that would get you an 8.25 rear differential with a 727 transmission. Next step is to determine what has been changed other than the engine, if in fact that is a 340, not just the air cleaner decal. Car looks to be in really solid...
@A body could tell you exactly what you need to strengthen that 904 up as he runs low 9’s with his. I know the converter hubs are weak but that’s all I know about them.
I had mentioned that. My recollection is the stock belt is narrower than the replacement belts.
I just looked at 2 belts one was 0.44" and the other was 0.41"
Sorry I missed your question. Yes it's an Allstar performance ball joint. Attached is their catalog page with all the available part numbers. Just google up the part number and you will find someone selling them.
Are you on Facebook and if so how many local friends do you have on there. I could probably post up that I need an intake cut and 20 friends would say bring it over. A case of beer and a few hours later I’m heading back home.
Schooner - PEI Liquor Control Commission
Most of you guys never herd of this beer since it's only available in the Maritimes . As we say here ''Alpine is fine but i'd sooner a Schooner'' . This is good stuff ice cold .
Ok a lot has happened since last post.
Timing set has arrived and was installed,
Oil slinger installed and cover installed.
Water pump housing and pump installed.
Fuel pushrod and galley plug installed. Went to National Moparts for a ton of hardware and some hard to get parts. Reconditioned the...
Stock shaft doesn’t help me either. it does leave hard and I’m still working on the rear suspension. I had my converter gone through and they’re supposed to increase the stall from 3400 to 4200 and but it flashes at 5200 so I will need to send it back in.
Thanks, I am glad you appreciate it.
I have had it 9 years. It's not fast but gets the job done. And it suits my style of actually using my odd/ old Mopars.
I have put almost 30,000 miles on it mostly towing to races etc.
ah l learn something.... many thanks....
probably a gearing problem then.... or indeed it is running on the base of the V due to a width problem.
i.e the in-built i'm now worn out and too narrow squeak, is there from day 1
