[SOLD] New Flaming River Mopar Power Steering Coupler; Barracuda, Valiant, Dart, Duster

I sold my 1969 Plymouth Barracuda about a year ago due to a family situation. I was intending to put this coupler on my car, but never did. This is a NEW Flaming River Mopar Power Steering Coupler (FR150P)- Includes instruction sheet, but will have to purchase the roll pin from any...

    Steering Coupler Install

I'm about to start working on my lower coupler soon. I got discouraged last year sometime. a lousy design for sure. I took the cage apart, and saw a pin pressed through the shaft. all I wanted to do was replace the rubber grommet securing the steering shaft from moving around. science mine is a...

    steering shaft coupler clamp

Since the coupling itself doesn't clear some headers, I imagine the external wire retainer might hit headers also.

need help, converting from PS to manual steering box

I think your talking about the coupler? There is a roll pin you need to knock out before you can remove it. And no the same column will not work. They are different lengths. The Manual shaft is longer.

    steering column bushing 73 duster

Don't know about the bushing. The cover on the coupler is just held on by the bent tabs. Just below it on one side is a small pin you need to drive in. After that just slide it off. To go any further you need to press the big pin through the shaft. I rebuilt my coupler , but left that cross...

Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

I ran to Columbus today to get some supplies. I picked up primer, paint, pin-striping tape, and lace. Nobody had fine line tape so I'll try to get by with other. When I got home I saw that the rear window graphic had shown up. I hadn't expected to see it arrive for a few more days. I also...

Need advice big time on steering shaft removal.

Push out the roll pin in the coupler and use a tie rod fork to pry back the coupler off the splines. On T bars - DO NOT LOOSEN THE TENSION ON THEM AT FIRST. Loosen the nuts off the LCA pins thru the K frame first. The tension on the t bars will keep the pins from spinning in the bushings. Then...

    Steering column 69 dart

I must have the first stages of dilerium. Why cant I get steering shaft coupler on gearbox all the way? Got first half inch in to pin slot. But cannot get it startedon 2nd section of spline. The steering column also seems to very close to starting firewall bolts. Only thing I can think is to...

steering wheel won't lock, and sounds like it's loose

It sounds like the locking collar is loose. There's a roll pin and a slip on cover that goes over the snout of the collar when it's installed on the shaft properly. There's also a piece inside the column bowl where the key tumbler is that is spring-loaded. It catches on one of the slots to lock...

How to remove steering wheel in a 72 Dart?

The coupler has a roll pin that has to be knocked out with a punch, then carefully using a pry bar you can seperate it from the steering box.

Need advice big time on steering shaft removal.

Punch out the roll pin shown in these pictures. Also, you may need a helper to hold the steering wheel still while you pound out the roll pin as it will want to turn while you are pounding on it. I believe that it takes a 1/4" punch to do this (it's been a while for me). Here...

    Installing steering shaft...

It is hard enough for me to remember what I did last year but trying to remember what my son did when we took the car apart...no way. Problem....we are installing the steering shaft ... We did not lose the pin that holds the shaft to the power steering unit and the coupler was not taken off...

    Column Shift Lever Install

I cleaned up in my garage yesterday and by some miracle, I found the pin. Apparently it fell out while I was installing my new flaming river coupler. Install wasn't bad at all. I used a small screwdriver to line up everything and light taps with a hammer sent it home (eventually).

    steering column bushing 73 duster

The coupler is held on the steering gear shaft with a roll pin. (see roll pin hole on the far left) I had to remove the column from the car to remove the steering shaft to shoe pin. (you can't get the bushing up the shaft with the pin in place) I think it would have been easier to remove the...

    steering coupling??????

I'm confused now... There are 3 separate things here (at least) 1. The splines need to engage till the roll pin hole lines up with the open area of the gear shaft. You can check that best with the coupler off the column. 2. The column shaft needs to be able to move in the coupler. But the...

    Removing K-frame?

Dartnut. So, you're saying I need to take the steering column out? If the pin is out of the coupler, wont the steering box just slide off, as you lower the K-frame and slide it forward?

steering wheel won't lock, and sounds like it's loose

Yeah I can feel it riding the grooves it is supposed to lock into when I turn it slowly. If the key is on it doesn't do it, but it does make other noises. As soon as I get into it I'll just remove the mechanism. From what I've read you can remove the locking plate with the notches also? The...

    Steering Column Install

The coupler should go down farther so all the splines are covered by the coupler. The pin hole should then be centered over the concave indentation between the splined parts of the steering box input shaft. You won't be able to put the pin in unless its lined up properly.
