.468. 224/[email protected], SFT. Low compression ‘73 340, stock bore, 273 rockers, stock heads/manifolds, LD340 intake. I would like to optimize the iron heads and use a different piston and head gasket. It’s my cruiser so I don’t want to tear it down yet.

Following as I plan on replacing my 72ish crappy exhaust manifolds this Winter on my stockish 340 with TTI’s.

Curious if you have any pictures from below. My stock 273 manifolds are RIGHT on the proportioning valve. Haven’t had any issues in the short time I’ve had it on the road, but I do know I need to address it.

I don't really see how a 340 could rev any faster at all than a 383 as there was only a .065" difference in stroke. Plenty of people seem to think that, though.

I haven't made it past the second pull and he's over 400 horse, 440 tq @5500. Through 340 manifolds! Stay tuned.

Can only guess it was the price he wasn’t impressed with?? In most cases one gets what they paid for. Want a good pair of headers? TTI is usually at the top of most people’s wish lists based on performance, looks, fitment and quality. They are not a low priced item though.

I used to complain that Weiand 340/360 manifolds had ports that looked like small port 318 sized, but at least all the meat was there to gasket match them to the heads perfectly. With **** like that speedmaster above, how would you even be sure that they would seal?

The TTI 340 manifold head pipes I used to have on my car ended just past the trans cross member. When I swapped to TTI headers a 8 - 10 inch extension from the collect was needed to hook up to where the manifolds were

the dynomax super turbos are weird. seem to drone bad with manifolds and not so much with headers in my experience. once aligned I'll drive it and see how it really is. fox bodies originally had two different lengths to eliminate drone. I'm sure you know that with all the fox stuff you do...

For a street car I think you are headed in the right direction - you will never feel the difference between a set of headers and 340 HP manifolds with good duals and like you say the manifolds are a lot less headaches on the street. Without a dyno or a drag strip you wouldn't even know that...

Why not use Fel-Pro gaskets and match port the gaskets to fit over the gap and under the exhaust lower port. Should be enough pressor to stop a leak. Never had this issue on a sb Mopar, but I did on a Chevy 350 and had to double up on the gaskets to get a good cushion seal.

Jeep manifolds? I don't think that Jeep manifolds will fit a sbm. And the only Jeep that I know of that has a mopar V/8 is the 4.7 and from what I've read those won't work on a sbm either. If I'm wrong here and I very well could be, what year Jeep manifolds fit a sbm? And do both manifolds fit...

Step headers are the way to go with an A-body and they are far better than any stock exhaust system. I once had some Hooker comp headers on my 340 automatic Duster and they were somewhat flattened on one of the drivers side tubes and the Duster still ran like a raped ape. Headers even damaged...

I doubt there much worse than 318 manifolds, probably 5 hp less at worse, I wouldn't over worry about on a mild early A car. There's another shootout that I can't find anymore that included magnum manifold to and was basically same as the 340. The best was one 340 and one magnum I forget which...

I took the headers off my 69 Cuda with a 360. They drug over every bump. I enjoyed removing them….. I used the 72-73 340 exhaust manifolds, they fit great and work great for a streeter. I doubt that you would notice any difference other than your wallet.

Well, damn, I fell down the rabbit hole! After digging, it seems like the matched set 72-73 340 manifolds (and others?) Have a 2 1/4 outlet on the driver's side, 1 7/8 on the passenger side. Is there a matching 2 1/4 passenger side, or does the difference really matter? Thanks...

Casting numbers 3614368 & 3418623. These are in great shape with working heat riser. Asking $450 + shipping from the Detroit area. Vastly different casting dates but with all the info cast on the inside of the RH manifold nobody will ever know.

Must have been a long time ago. Three years ago, they were going for $700-$800. The aftermarket ones were going for around $500. If your car is not a "SHOW" car than headers work better with 2.5" pipe and Walkers Turbos mufflers. This is my set up in my van.

TTi makes headpipes for the 340 manifolds, but they don't have collector flanges on them. You could add the flanges to the headpipes or leave them off the exhaust system and just hook them up with slipjoints. They're kinda pricey for what they are, though. I would think a local exhaust shop...
