    Insulating From Header Heat

I agree. This is the minimum insulation required to have even stainless braided hoses survive over time. A covering of reflective outer material should over that. If its touching the header, then a wrap of something like zircoflex may be needed, although that's not great for wrapping, it won't...

    gasket failure

If all else fails and you have enough room, in addition to your wrap, maybe fab a heat shield to go between? Or add a spacer to move the header out?

    Pressure building in tank

I own an older A body so mine car doesn't have a canister, someone else will probably be able to help with that issue. I would try the header wrap also, silicone tubing works real nice but if it ever catches on fire it's hard to put it out (don't ask how I know). Remember they sell the header...

A833 Transmission leaking at reverse light switch

Got some replies from the other thread I started on the antifreeze leak. Turns out the header bolts DO go into the water passages on the outer corners. I plan to pull the bolt where it is leaking and wrap it in Teflon tape and put it back in to see if it seals it up. May do the other four...

    header wrap? pro's / con's

So I'm starting to get the impression your not super fond of header-wrap ? LOL These cheap Summit Heather's I bought for $125 new about 4 years ago or so. Again I think I mentioned that I never paid them and they seem to be on their way out anyways. Again this is more for the under hood heat...

360 Advice Needed - Autocross / Street Engine Build

...couple the heat into the surrounding air a bit better. Ditto for headers, plus the heat they directly radiate out into the surroundings. Header wrap is partly for that purpose. (The other is to keep more heat in the exhaust and keep up exhaust velocity.) So you have a bigger heat generator...

    Headers!

These cars where not all that low stock,i bet there is a number somewhere regarding how high of the ground the K member should be(if i remember i can take a look in the body manual if its listed this weekend) ,i believe people just got used to seeing them low when people started putting smaller...

stainless braided tranny line sprung a leak??

I just ordered a pair of the steel prebent lines. I am going to try and sneak those in. I think originally I was having issues with the fan blades and fan cowl. I have since changed to electric fans and now have lots of room at the bottom of the radiator. I have a Griffin exact fit unit so...

    64 Valiant 440 build

I'm definitely planning on ceramicoating and some header wrap on those top tubes. The tube that runs along the valve cover has a decent gap, it isn't as close to the cover as it looks in the pic. No removable tubes, just gotta slide the steering shaft out, which is the main reason for the...

...an iroc z harness and hand wire it up to work. Nobody made plug n play stuff yet back then. We used to sell the hell out of Blackjacks, header wrap, and protrac 60s and 50s. I remember when the alumakotes came out i think i remember thinking they were pricy at $109 plus tax lol. i had...

    another 360/408 over heating

Thanks for reminding me to follow up with this thread, I replaced the radiator with a 2-1" core radiator. That made no difference in the temps and in the meantime my fan blades from summit arrived. I had ordered 2 different ones, an 18" 6 blade and a 17" 6 blade steel blades. The 18" was to big...

    another 360/408 over heating

This thread is long and has been open for a while. Can you refresh my memory and tell us if you actually measured the pulleys running the water pump? You sound like you are turning the water pump too slow. A clutch fan won't fix that, even if it would fit.

...carbs are more prone to this issue. But swapping a carb right now isn't what I'm wanting to look into. Kiss, how do you like that cool carb plate? I had been looking into them. Was gonna wrap my fuel line first with header wrap and go from there. Thanks for the conversations guys. I...

...line I see in the pick you might be boiling the fuel in the engine compartment (fuel line) when it get too hot. You could wrap it with header wrap like I did or slide Silicone tubing over it?? I would think that pressure in the tank would help push gas to the engine?? Now vacuum in the...

    Power steering fluid boiling over....

Hope someone can help me out here.... I have a 67 cuda with a 360 block and Doug's headers installed. The "fine print" indicated header wrap would void the warranty outright when I used to do ceramic coatings. The warning came from the supplier, not from me -- I'm just passing it on.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Yesterday I put header heat wrap on my exhaust system from the start of the head pipe flange almost to the mufflers. Fried Spark Plug Wires

Same here because I take about 6 inches of header wrap and fold it over a couple of time and put it between the header pipe and the wires. Solves the problem and about as cheap a solution as you can get if you already have header wrap anyway. :D

Yes just wrap a little bit of wire from the middle two header tubes to the front shock tip sticking out of the firewall and up she comes. Headers?

I bought a set of used tti big block headers, a few yrs back. They were wrapped , I figured I would make sure they fit , and took a couple of tubes out and straightened them out. Fried Spark Plug Wires

If you cant get 90's or 45's (you can) route them up over the valve cover through looms like the 273 valve covers. Nothing will keep a hot header from melting spark plug wires if they are laying on them, short of some header wrap on the headers themselves.
