I have 8mm yellow Acells with the long orange silicone boots. 5 and 7 wanted to lay against the header tube so I folded some header wrap to three thicknesses thick and put it between the boots and the header tube. Not a problem in almost 2 years of driving the hell out of it.

You could use header wrap but I'd rather use a light sheet metal shield clamped/attached to the exhaust. If you had a pic of the actual problem it would be easier to make a suggestion. treblig

I just stuck a folded over piece of header wrap between the two boots and the pipe and it works just fine to keep them from getting burned. :D (About a 5 inch long section folded over so you don't see the ratty ends) It stays there on it's own.

About that front end alignment. Don't let some punk kid do that to your car. You use a shop that has a guy that knows how to do the 60s and 70 front end alignments. Because believe me the ones that have not done those older Mopars they will screw it up.

Looks great, mine is super tight also, for some reason I think the SE is a bit different (the longer wheelbase?) The steering coupler is just hitting the wrap on my header so I have to remove some I believe, see yours is tight also. Heater motor looks like it cleared also! Great job.

Ok update! Installed the B&M shifter. They have some flimsy bolts to Mount it with. I welded 1/4 inch bolts to the floor. Much better. A few washers under the driver's side to make sure it was level. Make sure if you do this you have the seat in that you want to use so the shifter is placed...

I cut up a generic pair of 67-up headers and a drivers 5.2/5.9 ram/dak header and worked them into an early-a. Im not a big fan of headers anymore. I tucked them up AS CLOSE as I could and they still scrape, I cant ever get them to seal for any length of time and they wrap around both torsion...
