    Header wrap??

How much are these headers your wrapping? when I took my wrapped Supercomps out to sell them, they were not in bad shape at all. I think the wrap got a bad rap when motorcycles used them on 16000 RPM race bikes and the header would get so hot under the wrap that it would cause the pipes to break...

Header Wrap, what do you like

Interesting on the .004 w/ the wrap, not worth .004 to put up w/ the dam fiberglass for me. I did look into some alum. coated wrap that sounds interesting on ebay----- A wrap that is coated w/ alum. and has a stick on surface to hold it before using the s.s ties would be very tempting .

    Header Wrap By Starter

I've run header wrap many times and found this to be untrue. It may quicken the wear of the header but I've never experienced failure.

Best way to tackle this job?

You need a pulley set. Your Alt. Should wrap around the water pump and crank. I’m a bit late on your weekend for this job but here’s two worthless cents; Remove the stock exhaust in full. Remove the P/S box (& pump) and finish the swap in full. Resume header installation. Do not touch the...

question about cooling your engine oil

...tubing, let alone the 5/16 connectors used. I think the trans lines in the rad are alot smaller than that for volume to a V8. You could wrap the header pipe with Header wrap, that stuff works great. Some say it will weaken the header under its extreme heat retention but I wouldnt worry about it.

Basic Header install tips for 1st timers

Great video. On my 69 barracuda the driver side had to go up about 3 inches. I additionally removed the upper hose at the radiator, drain enough coolant so the fins show inside the tank then pull the hose. Also I removed the distributor cap so not to damage it, this also gets the plug wires out...

Header Wrap, what do you like

...driven on the street. As far as the HP, yup! I need them, if it will make my car go from a 8.03 to a 7.99:D (in the 1/8th) I did the header wrap more for the starter and to keep under hood temps down. Now that i have a fresh air scoops, under temp are not so much of a priority. Still think...

question about cooling your engine oil

It’s best to separate the filter and cooler. You could wrap the header like said, but that’s only useful if you’re idle. The airflow through the engine compartment is sufficient to wisk away header heat. Using a bigger pan to hold more oil is what you want.

Couldn't you just go with the Ford Solenoid. If your solenoid is getting too hot a Ford solenoid should solve your problem. Otherwise they do sell these special stainless steel ""skinny" straps for header wrap. I think I might have some left over?? treblig

    Well It Finally Happened

Okay, So I've got another hurtle to overcome. It seems that a wire coming from the case of my 2000 Dodge Ram mini starter is very close to touching my $800.00 TTI headers. Has anyone experienced this? Right now the only solution we can come up with is to put a piece of exhaust wrap around the...

    header wrap? pro's / con's

Im on second set of Hooker fenderwell headers for BB (avatar) because of header wrap. Did it for mainly keeping MC and brake lines cooler. Condensation promoted pinholes at thinner bends of header. However, I think the more you drive it, better off you are. Moisture is burned off in/around...

    Headers=more or less heat

...lb thermal mass that is 200+ degrees in there so this never was a concern of mine. If you wanted to keep the heat down, WAY DOWN, use header wrap. You can literally put your hands on the headers. (which I've done to keep my hands warm) I've used it on snowmobiles, bikes and cars. AND IT...

Brake line too close to header tube?

That’s close! You can install a fire sleeve like the do for spark plug wires to close to a header tube. Even though you can’t sleeve it easy, wrap it up and use zip ties farther away from the heat source. Wrap it around or fold it over and gain some peace of mind.

Pleasant surprise.. it IS a 340.

Guys just take the rocker arms off when storing engines, plus you do not get the moisture coming in from the open exhaust valves, simple concept. I built a dumpster 318 last winter for my next project, did not even bother to put he push-rods in it, because it will be a year or so before I fire...
