    My 422 smallblock build

That’s why the plug looks like it does. You have too much timing around and below peak torque and maybe just enough at peak power or you could be a little retarded at peak power. One of the things to look at when checking your plugs is to compare the sharp edges of the ground strap and center...

    What Engine Is This?

Who cares? It's an LA 318. It's early enough though that it has a steel crank and the cool much lighter rods.

NHRA got their wish in factory X class

Typical results of Chevy whining to get the maximum RPM rules. I don't go to any NHRA events anymore. I prefer nostalgia racing.

Small Block Chrysler Racer Brown camshafts

I had a 340, back in my racing days built with 13:1 compression with flat top pistons. With that much compression, it required a dual stage ignition; a button to turn the engine over, then turn in the ignition. I ran 10.70s in the 1/4.

    What Engine Is This?

    It's a 67' engine. August (8-66) would be a 67 motor.

1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp - Restoration is a strong word

The transmission came out yesterday. It was filthy. After a long amount of time scraping with a putty knife, a wire brush on a drill and several cans of brake clean, it was much better. I told my girlfriend the other day I think half of working on old cars is just cleaning dirt, grime and...

    6.4l budget build….kind of

Recently acquired this 2018 truck 6.4l with MDS. Picked it up cheap off Craigslist local to me. Was planning on 392 of some sort to put in my 1968 dart GT. Have been browsing internet for a while looking for either an SRT take out with low miles or just purchasing a crate motor. Ended up with...

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

60's and early 70's had the thicker tubs on the Dana's, after that, they thinned up. I use the 489, tapered rear end in my 69' 340 Swinger, 4 speed, that is a little stronger than the other two 8 3/4's. Remember, using the truck or van Dana's, you also need to get rid of the 8 bolt safety axles...

Just a Note About New Lifters

The 112° lobe centerline was something the Chevys prefer.Back when I was drag racing, I used cams from Racer Brown who ground their cams on 108° lobe centerline. I don't know if they're still in business. Instead of using camshaft offset keys, I used timing gears.

    Boise on fire

Cost effectiveness might be an issue . I heard they used to use dog food soaked in water but that may have been a wives tale or my active imagination. Lol Turn around time for tankers/helicopters is vital so scooping water out of a nearby lake or river is a time saver . Pretty amazing to watch !
