    Low speed surge

...a tad & tie/secure in place for a test drive. If surge has gone, it is too lean. But why? With only 7" of vac, I would expect waaaay too much T slot exposed, which upsets the idle/cruise transition. Also, assuming the low vac is just due to a big cam, the engine is going to need a TON of...

    Thermoquad jets

Good morning Bewy! I have some 1996 or 1998 metering rods in it now. But I also have a set of 1966 rods and another set of 2005 rods. Which is the best choice?

Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

Small update. Since the plan is to move the ifrs down low I decided so see how they impact the way the car drives. I started drilling them out .001” at a time. These restrictors are very sensitive. Every .001” makes a difference. I opened them up to .035” and there is no slightest hesitation...

What size is your idle air bleed? That IFR sounds way too big.

Proform 850 dialing it in closer

Thanks. That was quite a while ago and you’ve made a decent amount of changes since. Have you thought about trying it again? I’m probably going to do it this weekend after I get the T-slot restricters out in, unless I see a big change in the right direction on the maiden voyage.

    Holley 2280 throttle bushings

the intake is new and i checked the mounting surface with a straight edge, i mounted the intake and exhaust together using remflex gasket. also used remflex for mounting intakes to the head. I figured it wasnt the pcv as i didn't have any issues with this valve cover when i had the holley 1920...

    '74 Duster - stalls easily

You need to do TWO things now, in this order & report back; both will tell a story...... - remove the PCV & shake it; it should rattle. If it doesn't it is gummed up or faulty. - noting the slot position of the screw, counting the turns, back off the idle SPEED screw until the t/blades bottom out.

    Thermoquad issue

I really appreciate that information. It was running fine, good idle, good off idle. So this is obviously one more example of my over-thinking things. (Bad habit I seem to have...)

Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

Im scared to drill IFRs out not having any parts on the table so I'm waiting with that move. What size of IFR would you say will make a visible difference? I think its either IFR or T-slot restriction at this point.

Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

Here is a short movie that shows what’s going on. As you can see, over 3000 rpm cruise is where it needs to be(14-14.5), same with WOT at 12.9 but I can’t show that one handed recording from my phone. It’s cold outside so probably it will be .2 lower in summer. I had to give it gas because it...

    Nitrous on a 340 100 shot

That's great info, thanks. Hopefully on Wednesday me and Inertia can get it dialed in better. Also I can't wait to get the new street slicks on and see how that feels on the launch!

    Nitrous on a 340 100 shot

This post by @Rat Bastid is an excellent post and applicable to your situation. Read it and understand it and you’ll be on your way to razor sharp tune up. @Rat Bastid wrote; “Hang on before you start changing jets. You really need to do a few things first. You either need to get a pin set...

    Missing at cruise. 5

I agree with Bewy, in both posts 3 and 12; My 11/1, alloy-headed 367/4speed, likes more than 46* at 65=2250 for cruising; and up to 60* at 65=2800. This was about the same, with all three cams that I have run in it; from [email protected] to [email protected]. The trick I used, to fire the lean cruise, is to...

    8 3/4 gears

That has an awful lot to do with timing, and Transfer slot exposure. I ran the 292/292/108 ([email protected]), and learned real quick that I could not run the same low-rpm timing as guys with automatics do. With the right T-Slot, that 292 would pull itself in 2.66 x 3.55 ,down to 550 in gear at 5*...

    Oil on pistons?

This is way above my experience on carburetors... There is a carburetor speciallist in my area i could take it to to get it all done. But dont have any more money to spend at this time. plus there isn't any transmission in the car at this time so I will not be able to do any driving tests.

Annular boosters on a Tunnel Ram

Please don’t assume I understand all of this. That is wholly untrue. I learned what I know by watching and reading as much as I can by people much smarter than I am (Tuner, Shrinker, and yourself included). I’ve spent a few days on the dyno with Steve Brule at westech and I’ve said it before...

    Oil on pistons?

Hang on before you start changing jets. You really need to do a few things first. You either need to get a pin set so you can determine the size of the holes in this thing, or at least get some drill bits and use them to figure out the sizes of the holes. Then you need to get some 6-32, 8-32...

    Hard starts after running

I'll bet you a quarter that your throttles are too far closed, and the transfers are not fueling. Here is a base idle-tune for your SBM. This is your base idle-tune, and that is all it is. It assumes that your PCV is functioning properly, that the only air your intake is getting is thru the...

Custom Sanden compressor brackets for 1965 273

Update. After a few passes, the ideal V-belt was 11AV1120 (11 mmW = 0.433", 1120 mm long = 44.1"). I forgot if that length standard means the outside circumference (OC) or "average" (half-height). I was misled by that distinction on one belt I tried. Used Goodyear Gatorback 15484. The...

roller cams for la 360 /questions

3 inch exhaust is a good bit heavier than 2-1/2. The GV/OD is a big added weight. PDB can become manual disc for a good weight savings. P/S you s very heavy. 1.03 T bars are a little bit of weight. The 15X10 wheels and tires can go thinner. What is missing from you hooking up (besides control of...

    Thermoquad vs holley vs q-jets

...care how it gets the air... - have never touched the IABs & have never had a need too... - occasionally, the idle down channel which supplies the T slot needs enlarging. Very hard to get at on the TQ. It is a brass insert in the a/horn about 1 3/8" in from the surface, so long drill bits needed.

    Popping thru carb when starting

To no one in particular, but to everyone hating modern gas; I just gotta say ; You should try Canadian 87E10, which works fantastic in my 11/1, alloy-headed, 367. No troubles whatsoever. not even cruising 65=2240 rpm in overdrive, with the throttles nearly closed. IMO if you get carbon on the...
