Narrow A Body 360 Oil Pan

There is a V8 center link that has a greater drop to it than the slant 6 center link, however, it's not always required depending on the engine mount choices you use. I had a 65 I transplanted a 360 in and used the slant 6 center link. It fit fine. It was close, but never touched. There are no...

    Aftermarket carb for 170?

The two barrel intake is the only way to upgrade the slant 6 to a two barrel that will really reap any benefits. As mentioned, the bottleneck of the one barrel intake is huge. Also, unless you upgrade the exhaust at the same time, there's really no sense in doing the two barrel. That means...

Slant six in a Miata ? Why ???

I think it COULD be in something it was actually DESIGNED to be in, like an early Valiant, for instance. But a long, heavy slant 6 in a Miata? I don't know man. I think it was a bad idea on that one. Didn't he use like some plywood and all in that car in places? It just seemed destined for how...

    Slant 6 - 727

Yeah that's the title of this thread. "Slant 6 727 transmission". It's not "V8 727 with a slant 6 adapter plate". Here's the one I'm talkin about in Tennessee. I would go get it if I could. Cramisshun

    273 or 225?

 This is my take. I have a 62 Dart Polara 500 that the previous owner removed an OEM 361/727 and replaced it with a warmed over 273/4sp. I believe that swap lowered its desirability on the market. I bought the car sight unseen. My intentions were to fairly quick drop in a 440+. I was...

[FOR SALE] 1972 Plymouth Scamp Rockford MI $5500

I have a 1972 Plymouth Scamp Slant 6 car that I have decided to sell as space is limited with 5 Mopars between the shop and house garage. Completely 100% rust free with all of the original parts with the car. This car is in amazing shape and you won’t find a better candidate for paint and a V8...

    Building a slant for torque

Does any of the cam grinders make an RV cam for the slant? My philosophy on head porting on the street for the slant is port match the intakes to the gasket. Don't touch the intake. Allegedly it creates a small amount of anti-reversion/minor ram effect. I read that many years ago in reference...

    273 or 225?

(2 1965 Barracudas, /6 vs 273.) I had the same path you are faced with. I went with the /6, which is still an ongoing project. The engine is ready to be installed and run. Head and block work, cam (Hughes), intake (Offy 4 barrel), headers (Clifford), N2O, etc. If I were to start over...I would...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I bought it that way Mike. The guy I got it from stuffed a 69 charger 440 and automatic in this car. But he used the 69K frame. It sets the engine back a little too far. So the transmission mount isn't right. I do have a correct 65 Plymouth belvedere k-frame for v8. Will be switching that over...

    Universal brake booster 65 Cuda?

That won't fit your Mopar master cylinder, 2 bolt vs. four bolt. Won't fit the newer aluminum 2 bolt Mopar master either, wrong bolt spacing. Doctor Diff sells a good one, 7" diameter with the brackets if you order the A body version (will fit the early A even though it's listed for '67-'76)...

    Hmmmmm, 198 issues

Sounds like you want a nice driver. But what else do you want? Burn outs, limited traction in first gear? If you have power aspirations beyond that of a modern commuter car, I would go V8(big block IMO). If you want something to tinker with that will run decently enough to keep up with modern...

    6. Cylinder duster is now a 340 ignition issues wants to start when you let up on the key

Another question I had since this was a six cylinder car, was the wiring harness on the engine with the plug in mypost#9 that has all the wires to the coil to the sending unit to the choke? If it had one to the alternator and regulator where that was that just a slant six thing is anyone know if...

    273 or 225?

No better car to learn to work on than a slant 6 A body. Swap the seized 225 for the 225 you bought for $50, and get it running. It will be a great feeling of accomplishment, and you will get a chance to see whats involved in replacing the motor. Then you can tell that story for the rest of your...

    Slant 6 727 Transmission

Recently, I grabbed an early 60s (1961) slant 6 727 transmission. Cable shift, ball and trunnion flange. I got it because it had been there a while and the guy was getting ready to scrap it. Although I'll likely never use it for anything, I have it here and have plenty of room for it, so I...

    Harmonic balancer

As long as I'm not looking at a vibration issue, I can deal with the rest. I have never even been close to a Slant 6 before owning this one. I almost just scrapped it and swapped in a V8, but curiosity got the better of me.

Will a 77 Charger 360 fit in a 65 Valiant Slant Six Painlessly?

Wasn't '64 the last year for the push button shift?
  21. Professor Fate

Will a 77 Charger 360 fit in a 65 Valiant Slant Six Painlessly?

Painlessly? Nope, but it depends on your tolerance for pain. Is the Charger transmission a 904 or a 727? 904 will fit, 727 may need some tunnel massaging at the pinchweld, as already stated. '65 trans is cable/pushbutton shift, '77 is mechanical linkage, either column or floor shift- you'll...

    Schumacher mount question

Should be left side only, if that is 73 and later slant 6 to v8. The left side was tall for the slant 6 and you are cutting it down and drilling to a more useable location. I don't recall any modification to the passenger side when I did mine. I did 73 and later slant 6 to B/RB, but now I put in...

    What "makes" a 66 Barracuda a Formula S ??

My 65 Barracuda had the Commando 273, 4 speed, and rally suspension with HD torsion bars, HD rear springs and front sway bar. But it had 13 inch wheels and no tach. It was not a Formula S. The original 13 inch wheels got replaced long ago, and for the past 50 years it has had an aftermarket...

    [WANTED] 64-66 v8 gas pedal

Yeah. I’ve recently learned this. A non-AC slant six has the rod type linkage. To move to the cable type linkage needed for this conversion, you need the v8 (or slant six w/AC) gas pedal. Those supported the throttle cable.

    Hypothetical 318 Builds

I agree. A lot of times, these guys don't realize that one, a 318 may be all someone has and two, as hard as it may be to believe, a 318 just might be what they WANT. Like me bein a slant 6 guy. I have people all the time askin me "why did you build "THAT", it'll never be a V8?" ......and...

    FBO plate over advancing

I too have found the FBO plates to be inaccurate on both slant sixes and V8s and I've made mention of it here before, but was run over like a freight train with disagreement when I said something about it, so I just kept quiet after that. My experience on the slant 6 was the same as what's...

    273 or 225?

I've had over 400 cars since I was 13 years old. Most all were V8s except a few Jeeps and Military trucks. I have to say with 100% certainty that this slant 6 Valiant I have now is BY FAR the most fun car I've ever had. It never fails to put a smile on my face. It'll never be a V8, but it's very...

    Slant 6 727 Transmission

My 61 w200 had a sort of “universal” bellhousing. It has the slant and v8 bolt patterns. There is another set of holes maybe for the flathead six? Im pretty sure whatever V8 bolted to it would need to have the early style longer 8 bolt flange. The slant had a weird offset flywheel that I had to...

    273 or 225?

It depends on the year of the V-8 and the year of the trans. The 904 converter pilot got larger in 1968. So, a 68 or newer 904 will not fit the crank of a 1967 or older V-8 (same for the slant six)
