    Causes of engine block crack?

It is that simple. Setting a sleeve is a basic machining operation. I’d get a pallet and send your stuff to @replicarracer43 and get a really great engine.

Yeah, that’s fat. Light tan is fat.

99.9% sure this is a solid lifter and not an anti-pump up lifter correct?

SOLID LIFTER. That ain’t a hydraulic lifter.

    Cam Experts: Lobe Separation Angle?

I wouldn’t move the LSA just to move it. That’s hard to do. If you post your bore, stroke, rod length, compression ratio, where you want peak torque and power I’ll run some numbers.

At what rpm is the timing in. There should not be brown on the plug. That’s fat. Edit: At your compression a 9 is too cold.

Yup, that’s what they say. I retorque them because they get loose. My brother had a 440 in a Dart in 1984ish. It had composite gaskets like that. Blew the gasket. Almost all the bolts were loose on both heads. Both gaskets were failing. The failing gasket caused the bolts to get loose. It’s a...

Ok, I’m a bit lost (again lol). That failure looks like detonation. Across from the plug, that’s what it looks like. Did you post pictures of your plugs? Did you say your compression ratio and cam timing? I apologize if you did. If you are getting oil in the chambers and you are already on the...

You don’t need a cooper wire or anything like that. If you are going to do that you use stainless wire and you cut a groove in the block and a matching groove in the head. The wire goes into the head and the groove in the block is the receiver groove. Plus you need dead soft copper gaskets...

Contrary to popular belief, the heads need to be retorqued. I now do it as a matter of course. Even the Fel-Pro “perma torque” gaskets need it.

    Bellhousing alignment

What’s sad is a couple of the worst bell housings I’ve indicated in were factory units that I know were OE to the car. One was my 72 Demon. I wanted to buy a scatter shield but my dad didn’t want to because he said it would be way off. When it came time to indicate the bell housing in, it was...

    Hurst Super Shifter

The Vgate is HUGE and I couldn’t think of a way to make one fit without cutting the car up so I held out until I found a Ram Rod here on FABO. The RR is very close in size to a Super Shifter so it fits in the OE hole in the tunnel (but it’s very close though) and I changed the mount to move the...

    Hurst Super Shifter

I have a Ram Rod and I didn’t butcher anything. The straight rods are a PITA to fit and I noticed zero shifting benefit from the straight rods.

    Cam Experts: Lobe Separation Angle?

Ok, on that day, with whatever weather he made about 370 hp. That’s about 1.05 hp/cid. Again, unless he doesn’t have headers or the headers are junk he’d make more power with different cam timing. Of course we only know what you tell us.

    My 422 smallblock build

Look very close at the center electrode and the end of the ground wire. They are not sharp like new. That plug has been over heated. When the sharp edges roll like that it ain’t happy. Plus it’s getting oil.

    Hurst Super Shifter

lol that depends on how long your arms are. I never used the SSIII shift rods. I just use the stock shift rods and I never found the stock shift rods to be any less shiftable than the SSIII shift rods. IMHO, those SSIII shifters are the best H pattern shifter out there. I still prefer a Hurst...

    Cam Experts: Lobe Separation Angle?

LSA certainly can be a tuning tool. My thing is even a street/strip car should focus more on the chassis if it won’t hook rather than detuning it. On the other hand, I’ve had to detune some engines just to get them qualifying for the B main. So it goes both ways and as a tuner you have to get...

    Cylinder #7 down on compression

I’d keep it below 10:1. Not because that’s all 87 octane will take but because low and mid grade pump fuels are allowed many more fillers and other junk I can’t think of now that premium fuel can’t have. If anyone wants to know how you can run 12:1 on pump premium they need to study the testing...

    Cylinder #7 down on compression

Ok, but you have to know how far the piston is down the hole (or how far out of the hole they are), chamber volume and head gasket thickness and bore diameter to know what he has compared to what you have. At best, as yours appears to be a best case scenario the OP is still a long way away from...
